Why am I burning more cals?

I'm noticing a pattern with my workout log. On days when I eat something (usually a small snack) and wait an hour or two before working out I end up burning more calories. Whereas when I do my workout right after eating, my calorie burn is way down. Is there a reason for this?

You calorie burn could be more after you've waited because your body isn't focusing on digesting.

well that depends. Are you logging longer or higher-intensity workouts when you wait between eating and working out VS eating then working out immediatly?

And is this based on an HRM or MFP calculations?

Only thing I can think of is that you have a blood sugar spike and then it drops...that would make you slow down on your workouts. You would have less energy. You would have more energy when your sugar is at a even level.

I have a question- HOW do you know how many calories you burn during every workout?

It's my understanding that you should wait an hour or more so that your body is done digesting. That affect blood flow etc. :)

wickedcricket; I have a heart rate monitor that I wear during my workouts and it tells me the cals burned.
