I have been on Myfitnesspal and logged in every day for 409 days. I have several friends on this app and I may not make a comment on your successes however, I try to like every goal they make. When I hit a year goal I thought I would get at least one like. I haven't had anyone comment or like a status on this app in a very long time. I am telling you all of this to say if you are going to friend someone do them a favor and at least like their status. It's very frustrating when you meet a milestone and no one acknowledges it. I am like many others on this site who is going through this without a lot of support from family. So please be kind to your friends on here and at least acknowledge them with a like you may be the only one rooting for them.

you don't comment on them, but you expect them to comment on you?

I didn't say I don't comment I may not comment every time that they completed their food diary but I do at least like their status. I'm not asking those that I have connected with to comment on all my status updates but when someone meets a major goal I would expect them to at least like the goal.

    So you're doing this for.....?

Honestly if I did that on my old account, before they put limits on friends, I'd be liking posts all day.

I wouldn't expect my friends who have several other friends or friends who lead busy lives to notice a status milestone, but if these friends happen to be the same people who I exchange words with fairly consistently and are always on MFP, then yes, I'd be upset myself. It seems a little rude to not reciprocate received support.
I myself don't like posts for logging in every five days unless it's a milestone or an interesting number (one friend logged in the same amount of days as the year I was born, for example), and I don't like diary completions unless the friend is going through a tough time, and I know completing their diary is a big deal.
I'd like to think these pals have their own personal liking policies, but I can't imagine why nobody would want to cheer for you too.

I try to like and/or comment for all of my friends but I'll be honest, I have a lot now after being here nearly two years. I sometimes get overwhelmed with status updates and have to simply spread around likes. Then the stupid ads will screw up the feed from time to time and make it jump around. The other day I realized the ads had made the feed jump around so much I missed at least 20 status updates, and a couple of them were ones I'd have normally commented on. Anyway, you will get some people who only comment rarely, and some that comment on every update. There's no real rule of thumb, but if someone isn't helping you by being a friend, simply remove them. I like to see updates from people even if they don't like or comment on my status updates, it keeps me motivated.
