Neon yellow coloured urine.

So, I am having this issue. I have an appointment for Monday with my gp but am just quite anxious and wondered if anyone else has come across this.
Apparently fruit and veg, vit B and riboflavin can cause neon yellow coloured urine. Now I do not take any vitamin supplements... never have. Could this really be because I'm eating more fruit and veg? By diet has never been awful ... I have always ate fruit and veg

The colour of your urine can be affected by what you eat, but also by the concentration of water in it - the more water you drink, the lighter your urine. The less hydrated you are, the darker it will be. Vitamins and minerals consumed can also haave an impact
Some illnesses can also affect the colour, but unless you hear that from your GP, I would just concentrate on what youre eating or how much fluid you are consuming as affecting your pee!0 -
Yeah I freaked out when it happened after using Berocca. I had a look at their website and here's what it said
"Why does Berocca make my urine change colour?
That’ll be because Berocca contains vitamin B2 (riboflavin). Like all B vitamins, it’s water soluble so your body takes what it needs and discards the rest. The presence of B2 can make your urine more intense in colour".
Could be that you're eating more fruit and veg.
If you're worried, just go see your GP.1 -
Yes, I will see my gp Monday.
I do not take any vitamins. I never have. I'm not on any medication. As far as I am aware I haven't added anything new to my diet. I am vegetarian so I have always included vegetables in my diet daily...... it's just odd that it is only just starting to happen now.... and yes I was very freaked out!0 -

Since you haven't made any extreme changes to your diet, going to the GP seems like the best option just to rule out anything more serious. Hope everything goes well for you.1 -

I have had 2 cups of tea today and 1 cup of options hot chocolate made with skimmed milk.....
I clearly haven't drank enough but dehydration makes urine go a dark brownish colour like really concentrated. Not a neon one

I'm out of answers then. I just know it's what happend to my friends Sean and Paul from drinking them. They gave it up when they became role models for these two kids though.2

Thank you everyone for your comments.1

Some medications can do this as well. Are you on anything new?0

It's probably nothing to worry about, but good to get it checked out.0

ok i think it was dehydration. i just drank 2 litres of water and now it's not neon anymore! i have just honestly never noticed that colour before2

Too many vitamins = expensive neon Urine. Your body will expel what it doesn't need vitamin wise via your urine (most vitamins anyway) Happens to me all the time. Darker brownish urine is dehydration. Neon is vitamins0

B vitamins have absolutely made my urine neon yellow. It happened when I was taking supplements. I've also found very nutrient saturated foods can have a similar effect. Nutritional yeast has a ton of B vitamins as well and if I make vegan mac and cheese with it I'll have the same effect.0

Fascinating. Use use nutritional yeast pretty often and I've never noticed that. Vitamin B, on the other hand...

Can you open your food diary, OP? You may be consuming food that contains yellow or green dye. Some vegetables can contribute to fluorescent urine.
Also, do you use spices such as turmeric or saffron?

Have you eaten asparagus? I will definitely change the color.2

She just said she just drank a couple liters of water and it's gone. I would think it was because she wasn't drinking enough.0

Oh. I thought we were talking about this.2 -
The first time that happened to me, I was totally freaked out. Like it's been mentioned before, I narrowed it down to my multivitamin. It sure did ease my mind to figure out what the cause was.0

Beets do it too.0
