It took 20 min. for me to do my mile. I was so proud of myself. I know that 20 min. isn't a lot for most, but for me.... HECK YEAH! I was so proud of myself!
So today I decided to try it again. 18 min! REALLY! Again, I know it's not a huge accomplishment to most, but I have NEVER been able to jog for even a few feet without stopping to sit down.
I've realized that my fitness level could be better, but that as long as I am improving I should be proud. I shouldn't compare myself to others as much as I used to. My mile is MY mile. Not yours. I'm glad that you can do a mile in ten min. but this is my mile and I'm proud of myself!

This happened to me just the other day!! I was never a runner... could only run maybe 5 minutes before feeling like I was going to pass out. I've been training for a week and a half for a 5k and was up to 20 minutes the other day! It felt amazing. So ... I know how good you feel! Congrats!!!!!!!

GOOD FOR YOU!!! I had the same thing happen! Never could run more than a few minutes. Then my tv broke and I couldn't do my p90x workout for the day, decided to jump on the treadmill to see how far I could jog.....3.5 miles!!! Took me 55 minutes and sure that's a turtle's pace for a runner, but I was sooo stinkin excited that I ran for 55 minutes without a break! I've gotten it down to 45 min now!

Absolutely wonderful. A huge accomplishment...AND you're shaving time off. Great, great job. Keep up the hard work and you will be running your own 10 minute mile in no time.

    Fabulous!

    Deananna,

Congratulations! That is awesome! The biggest thing to remember to is NEVER diminish your accomplishments! This is a new PR (personal record) for you and that is exciting! You should not compare your weight loss and fitness journey with others.

Let me tell you, I'm a runner. I am a 'back of the pack' kinda person. I'll never be lightning fast or win any races but I do them and I complete them. I finished my first half marathon (11.2 miles because I was only 'half crazy' at the time) I did it in 3 hours and7 minutes. Most of the runners had already finished the race, received their medals and were on their way home (even the ones who were doing the full marathon)! But it didn't matter... what mattered was that I was out there, I did it and completed it. And that is how you should think about your accomplishments. YOU DID IT! CONGRATS! Celebrate will a great big glass of <insert favorite beverage here>.
