Excess Skin?

Over the last 2 years, I've lost about 210 lbs. I still have about 30 more to go to get to my goal weight but I have a lot of excess skin. I really don't want to have surgery to get rid of it for many reasons.

If you have been in the same predicament, what did you do to help tighten it up? I walk about 4 - 5 miles, 5 days a week but I really don't work out otherwise. I've been considering joining a women's gym to get some training but squeezing the time in is difficult with my schedule.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Unfortunately unless it retracts on it's own, there's not much you can do. Training will work on your muscle or enlarging it, but not that much. If surgery isn't an option, then you wear compression garments to keep the skin from moving around.

Thank you for the responses. I'll just keep telling myself that I can live with the excess skin and it's better than being obese.

It helps to be under 40, also. The commercial site bodyfatguide.com asserts that loose skin following weight loss is solved by more weight loss. One must first pay to get the details so I don't have the details.

There's really only so far that losing further weight will take you, in spite of what that guy tells everyone. I've gotten to that point myself where I can see the difference between what stretched with some weight to lose looks like vs. stretched with having lost more weight looks like. It's still stretched. Just less so.

OP, you've accomplished something amazing, keep progressing. Do add some strength training and keep exercising and continue to lose the rest of your weight. Your body will continue to change over time, but genetics will tell most of the story in the end, unfortunately.

Have you tried collagen? I take it daily. I don't have loose skin, but the overall texture of my skin has improved. It has been great for my overall health. My eyes and my joints and connective tissue. I started because an injury. I continue because my skin looks great.

That is an amazing accomplishment! Congrats!. I have lost 70lbs and also have the saggy skin. I joined Curves and also the YMCA in December to get some strength training. I have actually noticed my underarms loosing some of the wrinkling. I doubt if it ALL goes away, but I'll take what I can get and be happy.

when i was 150-160 i had signs of looser/deflating skin. i think weight training might help a bit, if you don't have too much of it. if youre a girl, nothing you can do about boobs except surgery
