I have been battling weight lose my whole life, I've tried every diet. I am 57 and have R.A. so I do have a hard time with most exercises, I like to walk but not by myself. I'm slow and most people I know do the want to walk at my pace. So most days I don't go to the walking track, I want to lose weight I have steadily gain up to 289 and I really need to lose. I just don't have the motivation I guess smh

It's a hard thing to get motivated when you have to do most of it by yourself. I rarely go to the gym or even run with anyone mainly because of my schedule so it is hard to always keep yourself going. Whenever I get down or start to gain some weight back I always hit a point where I tell myself, I am good enough to do it and I am strong enough to do it. It may seem impossible at the time but focus on the next step in front of you. Before you know it you are well on your way. You have the motivation or you wouldn't be here. You are worth it, so go for it! You can add me if you want. I have some lower calorie meals on my profile and hopefully more to come if that would help any. And never forget, weight loss or not, it's your life and you have to live it!3

I have RA too. As a part of my Lupus. Well the onset of RA. Today was my first workout and this is the heaviest I've ever been. We can do this. We WILL do this1

Focus on calories first and you'll lose weight without exercise. Then when you have that sorted and you're ready, be active in a way you enjoy. Keep it simple.3

Hi pickettdnlp I have also been trying to lose weight and keep myself motivated which is very hard to do. I do not have physical limitations like yours but I am 25 and 40-50 pounds overweight. I started my journey at 170 lbs and went to 187 lbs at my maximum. I have tried a few things including a personal trainer, but I gained weight when I was doing all that training even when counting calories. Don't lose your motivation, your health and you are worth more then giving up. It is really tough. But I am down 15 lbs now and have a long way to go, so you aren't alone and at least taking control of your health will be worth it in the end. Anyways I am here if you need to talk.1

I lost my first 60 lbs with no exercise at all. You can do it with just diet. Then when I did start exercising is when I had much larger loss in inches--it really tightened things up. But you can certainly get a good chunk off, if not all of your weight that you want to lose, just by counting calories.

As @TmacMMM said, focus on the calories.
95% of weight loss happens in the kitchen. Exercise can help, but you can't out-exercise a bad diet. Weigh your food, log religiously, be sure you know what is going into your body. If you do that and are honest about your intake vs. maintenance calories, you'll lose weight.1
