I am new here, I have fought this weight battle since third grade. I have lost and gained and rode the roller coaster for a lifetime and I'm tired. I'm ready to change my lifestyle and get off the roller coaster. Does anyone have any advice on how to stick with a healthy eating plan?

Approach it this time as a way of life rather than a 'diet'. Set yourself at a moderate loss rate, likely 1lb per week, and adopt an exercise regimen at least 4 times a week and stick to it. Even when you hit your goal down the road don't stop the exercise, ever, and continue to eat the healthy versions of the food that you'll learn along the way. When you hit maintenance increase your calories slowly, about 100-200 per week extra until you hit your maintenance level, then stay there for about a year for recomp. This is the long game, it's not something you can do for a while and forget. You need to learn that you're human, and are going to indulge in sweets, large meals, and eating out from time to time. When that happens you need to know instinctively what you can do to 'pay' for those extra calories rather than ignoring it and allowing them to be stored as fat on your body. One thing that you have is time, so keep reading the forums and don't give up. Don't fall for the fad diets, stay at a calorie deficit to lose weight. There's a ton of good information here.

Stop fighting. I look at this like a household budget. I only have so much money (calories) to spend. I need housing, food, and transportation (protein, fat and carbohydrates). I also need things like clothes ( vitamins & minerals). Then there are the bangles and entertainment I don't really need but that make life interesting (desserts, chips and dip). Spend your calories on the important stuff mostly.

There's no "end point" but it's sure a lot more fun to be the weight you want to be and counting calories and watching what you eat (maintenance) than constantly trying to lose that same weight over and over, and counting calories and watching what you eat.

As said above, the way you get off the roller coaster is to adopt proper portion amounts- for life. It takes practice and is hard. That's why we're all here supporting each other.
