Iv been logging food since the start of the year, i also have a personal trainer once a week for the last 5 weeks and i try and do other exercise at least 3 times a week and the only improvement i can really see is my stamina has increased and iv kinda finally got my eating down correctly....but im not losing any weight.
I know iv build muscle but im still the same size as when i started. i need to lose 30lbs to reach my ideal weight and i dont really know what else to do. iv eaten and not eaten back my exercise cals, iv mixed up my exercise, iv upped my protein and reduced my carbs.....i feel firmer but not slimmer. i should be 2 dress sizes smaller for my ideal size...
I dont have this strict diet of just eating greens and chicken, i do treat occasionally but i eat in moderation. even my portions are under control now. the last two weeks my motivations gone out the window because i feel stuck in the size that i am and i want to see it drop, surely eating better is enough to shed a few pounds and adding the exercise is meant to push the weight down faster? im talking proper hard training exercises as well.
iv been to a doctor already and had tests for everything and im healthy apart from asthma and being overweight. I dont know what else to do.

Took me about 8 months to do it.0

I just looked at your food diary, and I think it's possible that you're eating too LITTLE to lose weight. I see many days that are less than 1200 calories consumed, and it doesn't seem like you're eating any exercise calories back either. Since this is not working for you, why don't you try netting (after exercise is said and done) around 1300-1400 and see if that helps?0

well ... what did the dr say? what did the trainer say? seems like a personal trainer would have some experience with this. But at any rate, you're healthier & more fit - be encouraged! Don't give up ~0

Are you doing enough cardio? I've lost almost 25 lbs since january doing weight training and cardio 5-6 days a week, as well as eating really clean and staying within my calories.0

last year when i was being healthy and good, i could loose around 7 pounds a month. but the closer you get to your goal the harder it is. so now i only loose a couple of pounds a month, if that.
good luck

exactly what she said. I eat back some of my exercise cals but not all. I usually eat 1300-1400 a day...0 -

I look forward to what others have to say.0 -
No one real answer to the question, but for me, it took a little under three months. Then I stayed there about a month moving 2-3 pounds up and down(Plateau like a bia). I did every variation just like you did, but no change. Then all of a sudden, the weight started moving again. I think my body had caught on to what I was doing and had compensated. I also recently went on a cruise on 7/4-7/8 and ate horribly. Did not get in a lot of exercise either, except walking around the ship, on shore, and some swimming. When I got back, I waited a few days and weighed myself and had gained about 2 pounds. Attributed it to water retention and got back in the routine of exercise and healthy eating. Since then, I have lost those two and 5 more pounds to boot. I am not saying to go on a cruise, but for me, the shock of crazy food to the system seem to have sparked my metabolism.
Stick with it and it will happen. If you quit now, the results are not good. Good Luck.

I'm not going to sugar coat.... people aren't perfect, but i didn't see a day in the past 5 or 6 where you got close to hitting the macros assigned. All fat, carb and protein. If you're doing a good mix of cardio and lifting, and your food is on, it will come. If you get the macros his, and you're still not, try increasing your cal goal. I'm not sure of your goal, height, or current weight, but you may be trying to get your body to lose more than it wants.0

It took me 7 months to do it, and the first few months I wasn't exercising at all (because of some health issues). I lost most of the weight then. It's been harder to lose weight now that I'm exercising, believe it or not, because now I have to tweak my calories every day based on my exercise and it's hard to find the right balance of exactly how many calories to eat back. Before I was just on 1200 calories, period, and it was pretty easy to make the weight come off as long as I was faithful about logging everything I put in my mouth. I feel a lot better because of the exercise, though, so I'm not recommending that you not do it. It just takes a little more thought to eat the right amount every day. Don't give up!0

About seven months for me, too.
Strangely, this past month, at 1500 calories + exercise calories (averaging around 1800 a day), trying for a half pound a week loss, I lost about the same amount as I did when I was at 1200 and 1300. About 5 pounds a month. Less food doesn't always mean more weight loss.
Experiment and try different things. If you can eat more food and have the same or better results, do it!

well if you only have 30 to lose, the first 15 you should expect about a lb/week (set your goal appropriately) so 15 weeks, then when you have 15 to go your goal should change to 0.5lbs/week so another 30 weeks for a total of 45 weeks give or take.0

I was able to lose 35 lbs in about 3-4 months. I ate peanut butter sandwiches for breakfast, turkey sandwiches with fruit for lunch and chicken and greens for dinner. All I did was run and use the eliptical from 30 min- 1 hr each day while drinking nothing but water. I didn't have the extra weight for more than a year, so I don't know if that had anything to do with how fast it came off or not. Now I just have trouble keeping the last 10 lbs off and losing a little more.0

It took me around 6 months to lose 20 pounds(Started in January at 180 and by June I was down to 160).
I've lost another 3 since then which makes 23 total in about 7 months. I'm hoping to lose this last 7 pounds by September.. so about 9 months in total to lose 30 pounds.0 -
Oh yeah, I also took a supplement to help me with portion control. Normally I eat way more than any human beeing should. I ate that way all growing up and I am used to having large meals. I only used the supplement so I could get my stomach used to the smaller portions without hunger pains. I stay satisfied when I stop using the supplement, but as soon as I over eat my stomach stretches back out and I am back to my enormous portions. I am not recording my new weight until Monday, but I am confident that I will be at least 2 lbs lighter by then. I am currently 135 trying to get to 120. I am currently doing Hot Yoga for exercise with occasional running. Be sure to drink plenty of water whatever you do.0

My goal is to lose 30 pounds. I have currently lost 21 pounds since February 2011. I am 5'7" and work a sedentary desk job. I list my activity level in MFP as "moderately active" since I walk a couple of miles a day but don't log it in separately as exercise. I try and eat all of the calories MFP gives me, which is about 1700 (I set MFP at a 0.5 pound/week loss since I am in the last 10 pounds, previously I had it set to lose 1-2 pounds/week). I generally only do cardio for exercise but am planning on adding Pilates next month for strength training.
I agree with others that after briefly looking at your diary, it doesn't look like you eat a whole lot. Of course, I don't know your weight, height, activity level and so on, but that would be the thing that stands out most to me.0 -
It's taken me 3 months to lose 7lbs. At this rate it would take me about 7-8 months to lose 30lbs.
I've been doing Turbo Fire (a lot of cardio, HIIT and strength) 6 days a week, logging food everyday and mostly staying at or under my calorie goal (have the occasional slip up). I am ALWAYS over on sugar and salt though. I think salt is my #1 nemesis. If I could get that under control I wonder if things would move faster?
At any rate I think a slow loss is better - more likely to keep it off, stick to good habits and make it a lifestyle change. So keep it up - you may need to tweak but your on the right track!0
