Any results from those who started this to lose inches? I'm in week 7 of lifting and I love it!!! 1" lost around my arms each and about the same off my thighs. Visibly, I do not see the change yet, but am feeling stronger at least.

I myself starting oly lifting but I started off at my ideal weight..so I gained an inch on overbust, but the remainder of the measurements stayed the same. My weight remained the same.

Aside from me, other women at my gym lost the most weight (and gained " a lot" of strength) after starting oly lifting (versus them doing crossfit). Another woman looks like she lost a very large amount of weight.

Visibly it will take months for your to notice the change....but keeping measurements is the sure way of knowing that you are losing unwanted weight.

Are y'all talking about true Olympic weightlifting, which is just snatch and clean & jerk?

Yes....I was referring to the snatch and clean & jerk - and all the accessory exercises aimed to help improve the snatch and clean & jerk.

If you enjoy the sport and the lifts, all good, keep it up. However for weightloss, they are not the optimal way to achieve it, but you will gain a lot of strength.

All the above said, "optimum" only counts if you stick to it, so if you love weightlifting then its the best exercise for you, because doing what you enjoy and getting results is the best combination, than forcing yourself to do something you don't enjoy just to try and lose weight.

Do you plan to compete eventually?

Olympic weight lifting is probably one of the least efficient ways to "lose inches" to be honest. If you are a beginner, the chances of getting injured is extremely high as well. If your sole goal is losing weight, I would stick to a caloric deficit diet.

If you wanna increase your muscle mass in certain areas, then there are nice weight-lifting programs but again, olympic weight lifting is still not the most optimal way in that sense either.

If you genuinely love the sport, thats great though. I would be very careful with the movement, and learn the form to the heart with the accessory movements that comes with them. Watch out for your shoulder as its hard to come back from serious shoulder injuries. Good luck!
