Damn, everywhere I go to eat out has massive calorie counts and way,way too much sodium. Where can I go out to lunch with reasonable counts.

Order chicken breast cooked without butter or oil and steamed veggies. Pretty much every restaurant has this, you don't have to stick with what's listed on the menu.

What kind of restaurants? Fast food? Fast casual? Chain restaurants? Mom and Pop shops? Fine dining?

I lost > 30 lbs and never gave up eating in all the types of restaurants listed above. I eat lunch out 1-2 times a week and a family dinner at a neighborhood place at least once a week, plus nicer nights out about once a month.

I look for calorie counts on the restaurant website ahead of time, or in the MFP database, and figure out how to work them in. Sometimes I bank calories for more indulgent meals, but most of the time I can fit it into my regular allotment.

It is extremely rare that I can't find anything on a restaurant menu that both appeals to me and fits my calorie goals. Whenever I see threads like this I think the OPs are either restricting themselves to very limited food choices (e.g., "clean" foods) or low calorie levels or want to be able to lose weight while eating the same volume of food they did while gaining weight.

    My restaurant suggestions:
    - grilled meat
    - vegetables
    - fruit

Look for restaurants that have calorie counts and that have food that will fit into your plan for the day.

There are certain restaurants that I just can't do. And, that is specific to my particular dietary restrictions. Some places I used to love to eat, I just don't go there. But, the internet is your friend. Plan ahead, look up their menu and check their nutritional info. By doing this, I know which restaurants I can do, and I know ahead of time which options fit my personal goals. Most casual dining and/or moderately priced restaurants have plenty of healthy options. Fast food joints are a little tougher. But, it can still be done at some of them. I love Chic Fil A's grilled nuggets with a side salad and full fat dressing! Yummmmm. Looks like it is getting close to lunch time.

Plan your meal before you order with your phone. I ate at Denny's the other day and was able do adjust a grand slam breakfast to match my calories. I just searched Denny's and went into the Denny's menu on the app. Then I decided 1/2 of the hash browns, 2 slices of whole wheat toast with jelly and no butter, the eggs, and switched the pork sausage with chicken sausage. Found out the sausage was a mistake (yuck) should have went with just bacon. I do the same thing with fast-food, most of the time I eat chicken sandwiches and not burgers, never French fries, Panda Express Black Pepper chicken and mushroom chicken and get half rice and half vegetables. Leave most of the rice to last and don't eat all of it if you can. The short is look up the menus on the myFitnessPal app and plan plan plan.
