Calculating the calories in a meal someone made for me

Sorry if these sorts of posts aren't allowed. I've looked around the forums and Googled it to death, but I'm still confused. I only started maintaining a food diary a couple of days ago, so it's all new to me.
Basically, someone has home cooked me a meal tonight (a chicken curry with rice). Since I tend to stick to meals with only a few ingredients or packaged meals with the nutrient info already available, I have no idea how to calculate the calories for it. The rice is simple enough. I just weigh my portion and check the packaging, right? It's the chicken itself that confuses me. How do I calculate how many calories are in the chicken curry?
Thanks for reading and sorry again if these posts aren't allowed.

It's tough if you didn't prepare the meal. I would just look for a semi-equivalent restaurant version and log that. If it doesn't happen every single day, then it will be fine.2

I tend to just guess as best I can and move on. Doesn't always work--for instance if someone made me the equivalent of bang bang cauliflower from Wagamama I'd assume it's fairly low calorie, but actual bang bang cauliflower is over 400 calories. But a semi-accurate guess is still useful for the overall trend. It's what I do if I eat out and nutritional info isn't available.0

I try to find a homemade equivalent. It may help if you know what type of chicken curry (masala, tikka, rogan josh etc) it was. Type in chicken curry, scroll down the list to see what options you have and go for the closest-sounding match. I have the same issue when I eat out - I just have to find something that's close. Don't worry too much if it's not 100% accurate, as long as you're not guessing your meals every day.0

Id try to search for the individual ingredients. first I'd add how much chicken I ate, then whatever veggies were in it, and lastly I'd search for the type of sauce and estimate how much I think I ate. Thats gonna be more accurate than searching 'chicken curry'0
