Might be a bit personal or TMI but recently when I have been doing heavy cardio, lots of squats and lunges occasionally get a sharp pain in the private area

When you first start lifting, you will be amazed by what muscles you find hiding in there. If its a sharp pain though, you might want to check your form. Lifting should be challenging but not painful, besides a little soreness for a day or two when you are new to it.

If you can, see a physio or good trainer and make sure you are engaging your pelvic floor correctly during cardio, lifting etc

Your description is a bit vague though. The ligament that joins the front of your pelvis can cause excruciating pain in that area if strained; again, a physio can assess this.

If that's not an option or it persists/worsens you really should treat it like any other medical complaint and see a dr.
