Wanted: female friends who lift!

Inspired by the results I've seen on the women's lifting threads, I've finally decided to conquer my fear of the weight room and start weight lifting! I'm looking for friends with similar goals for accountability and support.

I would also love to connect with women who are finding success with lifting! (Couldn't find any active groups...?)

I'm planning to start with moderate weights to start as I have never done anything like this before, intending to work up to heavy lifting as my body gets used to the stress.

Thanks in advance! Can't wait to "meet" you

I love to lift weights. I'm nothing compared to the awesome woman above ^^^^ but doing quite well. (I spanked my husband at the gym friday night. He struggled doing the 90lbs on the bench I was doing! but he's out of shape)

I can bench more than my husband as well lol. No pity for him though because he chooses not to go to the gym ;)

stronglifts 5x5 for women . . . unless someone else has already said this.

totally do it. the fear's just a thing, like with any other unknown. not saying it's not huge, but honestly it's one of those monster-under-the-bed kind of fears. once you look and/or decide to go ahead and do it anyway, you're so glad that you did.

I bench more than my husband too. He hates lifting but will run miles and miles. Ugh. I hate running.

I just started recently-ish and am slowly working up to the SL 5x5 starting weights :'D. I'm afraid I'll hurt myself if I go too big too fast. Feel free to add me!

Olympic lifting is my thing. I love it. The only time I feel like a normal person is when I lift.

Hi friends! I like to lift heavy weights, as well as my body into complicated pole poses. I plan on starting StrongLifts in the 2nd week of March (I just have to finish my PT sessions)

  • I love lifting! Especially heavy, seeing the slow changes in your body is amazing. Aiming not to just be skinny but strong:)

My gym offers bodypump classes a few times a week. It's a great way to learn lifting for beginners. I've been doing it for the past couple years and love it!

I sent you a request! I started lifting about 2 years ago and it is now by far the biggest passion that I have ever had! You will love it, just remember that everyone starts some where and everyone progresses differently! Lifting is unlike any other acitivity that I have ever done in the fact that you see so much progress in yourself not just physically but mentally as well! Enjoy your gains!

Wow, good eye, if you're talking about the profile picture...! No, not from Brighton, but went there on holiday a few years back and it was absolutely perfect. Quite a happy time and I adored the rocky beach
