Pregnant and happy and slightly frustrated!

Hello everyone,
I am not sure who is going to see this. I haven't been on MFP in forever. The main reason is that I went on a vacation to see Ozzy in concert for a weekend and came back pregnant! Totally unexpected, but totally excited. I am still thrilled and have to be consoled every once in a while about the way I am looking and I do get the occassional "YOU'RE HUGE!" comment. However, I think that because I am overweight, people think that I shouldn't gain any weight at all. Yes, I know the dangers of being pregnant while overweight or "obese," but I have also talked to my doctor immediately with those concerns. So far, I am in my third trimester and have only gained about 13 pounds. My doctor is not concerned so neither am I - until I had to have the gluclose test. I was 2 points too high and had to come back for the 3 hour test. Those results came back fine, but I did gain some knowledge about food and working out through a dietician. I figure, if I had to go (AKA instructed by the doctor and therefore HAVE TO go) then I should use this to my advantage. So, now, I am not going to try to lose weight, but become more aware of what I am eating and see what happens. And to all the 'NAY SAYERS:" I am growing a life, what did you do today? :P I am glad to be back and can't wait to start recording activities and food and lose the weight. I will accomplish this, I am just detoured for a while. By the way, Baby Kaleb is due on October 1st, but I have to have a c-section, so we are going in on September 24th and because of the c-section, I have some downtime ahead of me. It will all be ok.
Just food for thought.

I'm glad your doc sent you to a dietian. I came in 2 points under so I was dumb and didn't play it safe enough. Ended up putting 37lbs on and was miserable, lethargic, and had the worst migraines all the time.
Good on you for getting on top of it. Weight gain in the third always happens since that's when the baby puts on the most weight.
Wish you the best of health and enjoyment in this new lil one.0 -
You can do this, I had two babies in May 2005 and January 2010 and for both developed gestational diabetes. I gained about 30-35lbs for each and have managed to get to a better than ever in my life. So yes, you can do it by following healthy eating habits. Broccoli was on my plate 24/7, suprised my son isn't named Broccoli. I also followed the same workout routie until the end of my pregnancies (weight lifting and all)...so yes, you can eat healthy, workout and get the necessary nutrients, and you'll only gain waterweight was baby weight, because all the nutrients will be use to the max...good luck and motherhood is wonderful, specially when they come with you to work out.0
