Should I stick to my plan when sick?

Hello! So I'm coming down with a cold and I'm not sure whether to stick to my calorie goal or not. Should I be eating a little more? I'm worried I will take longer to recover if I don't, but I also don't want to overdo it. Any advice would be great!

(I'm not a doctor so this is anecdotal) But personally if its just a cold it should be fine to stick to a deficit with no adverse effects, as long as your deficit isn't too aggressive. You could always switch it to a smaller deficit for a bit or just play it by ear if you feel you haven't the energy go back to maintenance. Thats just what I would do anyway. :) Get well soon.

Getting well should take priority, but it doesn't sound like you're sick enough for it to matter, so sticking with the plan should be fine. Feel better!

Healing takes calories. If you are on a large deficit you might want to up your calories a little bit if you have an appetite.

Healing does take calories so if you have a big deficit I'd eat more. But I also know when I'm sick that I'm waaay less active so I'm using fewer calories as well. So I just don't need as many as usual anyway.

If it's a little cold than it shouldn't be an issue. If you find yourself vomiting though, I would concentrate on getting better (especially the days after).

Thanks for the advice everyone! The deficit isn't too big so I think I'll be okay sticking to it!

I've an ear/nose/throat infection at the mo and I'm eating at maintenance or just below, whenever I feel really ill I crave salty and sugary food and stick to just walking instead of working out, usually passes reasonably quickly. Think if I was eating at my deficit I would just feel more lethargic and run down. Still been weighing in throughout the week and seeing normal fluctuations but haven't seen much upward movement - happy days.
