They should list how many servings per recipe.

Which doesn't mean that you have to eat that size serving. You could either eyeball it (4 servings per recipe = 1/4 of the whole for example) or, using the 4 servings per recipe example, weigh the whole thing and multiply by 4 to get total calorie in the recipe. Then figure calories per serving from the whole.

Many recipe websites in the US don't provide the weight per serving. However, most recommend somewhere on the web page how many servings are in the full recipe. Such as Serves 4.

When you prepare the recipe yourself, you can divide what you make into almost equal portions (divide in 4 as in the example above), and assume that is the number of Calories for that portion. If you are the only person who eats all of those servings over the course of a few meals, the actual Calories per portion is less important because you will have eaten the whole batch eventually.

To be precise, you should use the MFP Recipe Tool using all of the nutrition information for the individual food items you actually use to determine the Total Calories in the entire batch.

Also, to be precise, you will have to weigh the entire batch of the final prepared food after it is cooked/baked - and preferably cools a little to allow for the remainder of the water to evaporate - to determine the Total Weight.

If you have not used the MFP Recipe Tool, you will have to estimate the Total Calories in the entire batch. So for example, say that the Recipe indicates it Serves 4, and the website indicates one serving is 240 Calories; so 240 x 4 = 960 Calories in the total batch.

Once you have determined the Total Weight and Total Calories, then divide the total weight by the number of servings you want, and that will be the weight for your serving size. Divide the Total Calories in the batch by the number of servings you want, and that will be the Calories for your serving size.

For example, using the Total Calories from above of 960 Calories, suppose you divide your batch into 6 servings instead of the recommended 4 servings. Now, divide 960 Calories by 6 to get 160 Calories in one-sixth of the batch. When you use the MFP Recipe Tool, if you choose 6 Servings in the Tool, it will do the division for you and show how many Calories per serving. You can also edit the Recipe in the Recipe Tool and change the number of servings at any time.
