Today there were croissants at work and I just ate one and feel like I really messed up. What do you tell yourself on days like this?

There is nothing wrong with eating a croissant.

No need to be so dramatic about it. :)

Did you go over your daily calories? What about your weekly calories?

Did eating that croissant put you over your calorie goal for the day? If not, then what's the point of getting upset over it? And even if it did, it's not going to erase your deficit from the rest of the week.

I think the main thing is to not keep sliding down the slope of continuing to eat foods that won't help you stay on track. Everyone slips up the key is to get back on track. What about bringing a piece of fruit with you to work so that you can have something to eat instead of the croissant? Don't beat yourself up about it just get back on track and look forward. You can do it!!

When I feel like I've eaten something that I shouldn't have, I just have to accept it and move on with my program the next day. We all do this and it is going to happen from time to time with the best of us. I have learned that to keep my head on straight, I can't bring the weight of the world down on my shoulders for any mistake. What that does it make me more upset and angry at myself. What I do is tell myself I did it and remind myself that I am doing a great job and one mistake will not derail me. I remind myself how strong I am and then move on with my life. I started this journey in January of 2016 and to date I have lost 174 lbs and have 91 left to go. I am 50 years old and I used to think I was too old and fat to lose weight or do anything about my health. I have 4 Lbs to lose before I am in Onederland and break the 200 Lb mark. I am so happy and joyful at the change in my life that it's hard to explain.

I wish you success in all you endeavors and remember, you can do this!

Why do you feel like eating a croissant messed you up? Did it fit into your goals? Did you enjoy it?

I eat things I didn't intend to eat sometimes. Not everything goes to plan. Consider it your maintenance day. Tomorrow's another day.

    Consistency over time will tell.

What would it be like if you placed a calendar on your wall.
    You get three colored stickers.
The green sticker means you've stuck to your calories.
The orange sticker means you've exercised.
The red sticker means you've screwed up.

Up to this point, how many red stickers would you have compared to the others?

Chances are the croissant didn't break the bank so quit kicking yourself in the balls.

As a side note I thought about tastee cake chocolate cupcakes at 8am this morning.
At 5pm, I ate both of them.
Tomorrow, I'll wake up and continue my life.
Stop being so hard on yourself and find the willingness to accept yourself for who you are at this moment, while allowing yourself to improve a little bit each day.

Croissants are delicious! I would have eaten it, logged it, and made sure the rest of my day stayed within my calorie allotment. ...Or gone for a walk/run and burned a few "extra" calories, if I was feeling up to it.

1 croissant, no biggie. I just fit half of a thick mushroom Burger and small fry into my calories for the day. Learn to enjoy your food and practice moderation. This weekend I will be having brownies and ice cream because I've been under my calories all week.
