is it enough?

I have recently started a night job. After 3 1/2 years of being a stay at home mom and full time college student I was offered a job 7 weeks before graduation so of course I took it. Because I am working nights, I am home all day with my son since my fiance works days. My normal gym time was nights but now since im working nights I can only exercise during the day but my gym doesnt have a daycare so I have no choice but to use my exercise dvds. I have Biggest Loser, Leslie Sansone, Taebo and also Just Dance for wii. I really enjoy the Biggest Loser Power Walk with weights (20 minutes long) but I was wondering if 20 minutes is enough?

On my days off (saturday & sunday) I plan on going to the gym and spending my normal hour there. Is 20 minutes a day with my dvds enough if im adding an hour at the gym on weekends? I think I might take Sundays to rest so my body can relax.

I think that only you can answer that question. I'd suggest that you'd try it for a couple of weeks and see if it works for you on the long run. Don't forget however that if you keep doing the same exercises with the same intensity for a long period of time these will become innefective and you'll hit a plateau.

thats why I was thinking of doing a different dvd everyday. I have 8 so I have more then enough to do a different one everyday. And also the Biggest Loser & Leslie Sansone dvds have different intensity levels

If I were you I wouldn't pick Sunday as a rest day as it's one of the only days you can make the gym. Twice a week in the gym supplemented with DVDs doesn't sound too bad but I wouldn't trust DVDs to be okay with just one trip to the gym. I would try 2 gym sessions, 4 DVD sessions and maybe rest on say Wednesday or Thursday.

as long as you break a sweat, then i'd say you're good to go! studies say that you should try for a minimum for 30 minutes a day, but i'd say start with what you can (you sound like a busy bee, mama!) and work your way up!

Put the little one in the stroller and go for long, brisk walks. If you have a bike, you can get a child carrier for the back of it. Playing burns a lot of calories, too:)

I think you're going to be fine. You do not need to spend 1-2 hours at the gym every day to lose weight (actually, you don't have to go to the gym at all to lose weight - I haven't!).

    Hey, when do you sleep???

I can't go to the gym for financial reasons. So the weight I lost prior to MFP and the weight since coming here has all been lost doing DVDs and running. The Bob Harper Super Strength dvd kicks my butt just as hard as the gym did. I think just do what you can do. Your DOING it and that is what matters.

LOL! I stay up pretty late but last night after my first night of work I came home & passed out as soon as my son did.

Don't they say 70% of weight loss is diet? Or smth like that.... I am also not able to work out longer than 30 min per day.... (I mean, I know physical activity is very important as well)
