Hi all. I'm looking for new friends to keep me motivated. I have lost a stone and a half so far and need to lose another stone in 6 weeks before my wedding!! I think this is achievable safely but I seem to have stopped losing despite still training as much as always. I'm not necessarily watching what I eat as you can see from my diary so maybe i need to watch that. Anyone fancy joining me and helping me hit my target before my big day????

A stone in six weeks isn't safe, unfortunately. You can probably do 3-6 pounds in that time, depending on how much total you have to lose.

    What are your stats?
    Age
    Height
    Weight
    Goal weight

Caloric intake and how long you've been eating that way?

    Exercise?

    Last question:
If this is so important, why aren't you eating better?
Last last question: Are you losing the weight just for the wedding? Or is this some wake up call?

I thought 2-3 pounds a week was ok? Is that not the case?

2 pounds a week is pretty much the max. If someone is morbidly obese and under doctor care more may be realistic.

The closer someone is to a healthy BMI it will generally be closer to ,5-1.0 pounds a week.

    1 stone = 14lbs
    That's a little over 2lb per week.
    Water manipulation will help.

    Eat at a moderate deficit.
    Tighten up nutrition to 90/10.
    Increase movement like walking.
    Cardio 2x a week resistance training 3.

You can get down there or damn close.

A wedding is a "high stress event". It's great that you've lost weight. It's difficult to do it quickly - in 6 weeks without making yourself ill. Also, if you "starve" yourself by restricting more calories, a lot of times that rebounds, and makes you hold onto pounds rather than actually lose them.

Check out these links for more information:
    http://www.drnorthrup.com/adrenal-exhaustion/ (she's been on Oprah);
https://www.yourhormones.com/adrenal-health-1/ (he has some great insight about both adaptogenic herbs vs. glandulars)
    https://adrenalfatigue.org/adrenal-fatigue-diet/ (for some healthy eating tips);
http://www.nutri-meds.com/adrenal_glandulars_supplements_s/5.htm (for information about glandular support - they don't ship to UK / EU but similar products are available on Amazon UK.)

I went to see a nutripathic doctor and she recommended low dose 7-keto DHEA as well as low dose whole adrenal and adrenal cortex *and* the paleo diet (high protein, moderate healthy fat, low / no sugar, low / no carbs to help me with weight loss. More of supplements are not better ... TRUST me!

That said, in 42 days I have lost 14 pounds safely and by eating healthy foods (and taking the supplements I mentioned that were recommended by my doctor).

    On my profile:

No More Than 1,400 calories; (2/3 of the time I am compliant)

Up to 158 grams protein (I haven't ever eaten this much)

No More Than 53 carbs (I go over a little)

Up to 62 grams healthy fat (I haven't ever eaten this much)

    AT LEAST 21 grams fiber

No More Than 15 grams sugar (I go over a little)

(Not all calories are processed the same; carbs and sugars make you ravenous and often cause your fat cells to make more). If you are going to try and make the switch -- do it gradually and include a probiotic (I like five-lac) to help with the sugar cravings as the yeast dies off in your gut. I also took a magnesium / citric acid supplement to assist with constipation when needed as I was transitioning to this type of diet.

87 calorie Coffee with half & half

240 calorie Breakfast (it's not that bad):
    • 1.50 cup, Coconut Milk
    • 1 scoop, Whey Protein Concentrate
    • 5 grams, Modified Citrus Pectin
    • 7 g (~0.5 oz), Moringa Powder
    • 12 g, Ground Black Chia Seeds or ground flax seed

349 calorie Lunch: (I make these items up for the work week and then measure it out 1/5th a day). The blended veggies and the mushrooms are in separate containers but I combine them daily for lunches into one container.

Blended raw veggies for high fiber (I vary list weekly but always include lemon or raw apple cider vinegar, sea salt, celery, carrots and parsley for their alkalinity)
    • 1 lemon yields, Lemon juice, raw
    • 323 gram, Multi-color Carrots
    • 178 g, Celery
    • 30 g 1 stalk, Green Onion, Chopped
    • 0.50 cup chopped, Parsley, fresh

Slow Cooked Mushrooms (I vary the types each week) for bulk / energy
    • 5 Medium Clove (4g), Fresh
    • 2 tbsp, Olive Oil
    • 1 lemon, Lemon (Juiced)
    • 3 cups (85g/oz), Organic Fyfga Super Greens (Kale, Spinach, & Chard)
    • 513 g, Crimini Mushrooms

Greek Cumbers to go in Greek Yogurt
    • 2 tablespoon, Oil - Olive
    • 1 tbsp, Spices, dill weed, dried
    • 3 clove, Garlic
    • 0.25 tsp, Salt and Pepper
    • 65 g, Lemon
    • 378 g, Cucumber

160 grams of FULL FAT Greek Yogurt

95 calorie 1 TBSP peanut butter Snack

Dinner is usually something Paleo inspired:

Meat / Fish / Eggs with low carb veggie(s) and once in a while a carb like rice, beans, wild rice etc.

This is what works for me, but, your results might vary.

Buy a kitchen scale and weigh everything!

Good luck and you can friend request me if you want.

I happen to agree it's too aggressive, you should have started last year and got serious with tracking your food intake.

My second thought is, what if you did lose a stone in 6 weeks, what happens to your wedding dress? I can guarantee your dressmaker would be highly unimpressed with significant very last minute alterations.

Or the tux, since OP is male

Sean, 2 pounds is the most MFP will safely allow people to lose, and that's usually best for those with 75+ pounds to lose. A high rate of loss can lead to muscle loss, not to mention possibly making you not feel so great leading up to the big day.

Ha! Oops! But yes, still applies. An ill fitting tux is not a good look.

Hi mate, add me as a friend if you like. I can't reply to your comment on the tread unfortunately. I started at 17.5 stone and have got to 16st in past 5 months (including putting lbs back on at Xmas) I am 43 and want to get to 15 stone as my next milestone. It's definitely a life change and not just for the wedding. I do 7 Les mills classes a week at the moment and am seriously considering trying to get myself into the kind of shape that will allow me to become an instructor in the future (I know, massive goal). My fitness level is great - Best of my life, but I'm still eating with the family so not too great despite calorie counting. I'm averaging about 1800 a day but too many carbs bread, pizza etc

So 245 looking to get down to 210.
    Mathematics:
    To maintain 210
    Activity Level Daily Calories
Sedentary (little or no exercise, desk job) 2334
    Lightly Active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/wk) 2674 <
    Moderately Active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/wk) 3015
    Very Active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days/wk) 3355
Extremely Active (hard daily exercise/sports & physical job or 2X day training, i.e marathon, contest etc.) 3696

So you're looking to drop the weight in 6 weeks?
    -500kcal/day = 1lb/week theoretically
    -1000kcal/day = 2....
    -1500kcal/day = 3.... yikes...

Since this is short term, clean up the Nutrition 90/10 or better. That's 90% whole foods.

You want to shoot for 15k steps per day.
    Jog daily for 30 minutes.
Do the DVD training 3x a week.
    Shoot for 1500-1800kcal/day.
    Improve sleep and stress.

Be ready for hunger and embrace it.

Given your stats, I would have thought you would be losing on 1800 cals. Do you weigh your food with scales?

No scales. But I'm tracking pretty much everything so I'm a bit stumped too. I haven't lost anything for two weeks. Gonna hit it hard this week and see what I can do

You're eating more than you think. Get some scales, weigh everything, you'll be surprised!

If you're not using using a food scale, then you're likely eating more than you think you are.

The food is what matters. Your loss so far is impressive, well done, but if you did it without logging your food accurately, you got lucky, and your luck will run out (sounds like it just did). Exercise without controlling food intake is not an effective way to lose weight.

Get serious and get logging. Log everything.

And abandon the plan to lose a stone in 6 weeks. Half a stone might be achievable, but only if you are significantly overweight. If that stone is all you need to lose, 6 weeks will almost certainly be too fast.

Far better to get logging for a few weeks, then go into maintenance and concentrate on getting a suit that fits you properly. Continuing to lose weight fast right up until the day of the wedding makes it very likely that your suit will not fit, one way or the other.

Unless you are wearing a kilt, but even there the adjustment is not infinite.
