Can't get motivated!!

So I'm a typical yo yo dieter and I hate it!
I switch to slimming world, weight watchers, calorie counting and sometimes it lasts a few days and I'm bored and hate the feeling like I'm on a diet and I know that's bad.
I have a 4 month old so I'm tired alot of the time, with lots of running around housework seeing family etc and always feel so busy by the time it comes to thinking about food I feel it's just another chore.
I try and go to the gym 3x a week but sometimes it end up 0x as I'm not knackered by the end of the day/early in the morning and if I do get there I'm so demotivated I can't be bothered.
Really stuck in a rut here and don't know WHAT to do. I have a fitbit flex and again I don't know if it's worth tracking my steps..
I just want something plain and easy where I can eat what I fancy within reason and loose my stubborn half a stone but most of all get my motivation back!
Someone help me

You've come to the right place. Welcome to MFP
Of course you lose motivation when you're doing something you hate.
Don't go on a diet.
Eat at reasonable calorie deficit. MFP sets that up for you when you plug in your stats and choose the closest equivalent to 1% of your body weight as your weekly weight loss goal. Plan, prepare and eat food you like. Log (prelog) it and hit your calorie goal. Exercise if you want to - it's not necessary for weight loss.
You don't have to do any planned exercise to get moving. If you're moving for health, it's the moving that counts.1 -
You don't need motivation, you need discipline.
My recommendation is to find an eating plan, exercise routine, etc. that you can reasonably expect to stick to and work on developing habits and discipline.
Motivation and will power are finite resources; don't rely on it to achieve goals that are important to you because anytime you experience stress or a bad day you'll fall off track.3 -
Read lots of these forums! So much good advice:-) I've lost 4.1kg/9.3lb in 20 days by sticking to my calorie goal. Seeing my weight drop is MY motivation! Good luck:-)0

Thank you. You've probably hit the nail on the head there. I have no discipline. I used to, but I don't know where it went xx1 -

The good thing is that it can be built over time and that it compounds as time goes on. Working daily on discipline to get the things done that need to get done will strengthen your discipline.
Here's a resource you can use (and methods you can stick to) to help you achieve your goal.

Thank you. I'm always moving around. I think that I make myself feel guilty for not going but in actual fact I've been so active already that I've done a days gym... maybe? xx0 -

Yea I am. I am to lose 1kg a week ATM because I have a bit to lose. I eat back half of what I burn to. I also eat McDonalds and burgers as long as it's within my calorie goal. I don't deny myself anything. Just play around with it a little bit until u find what works for u. Don't panic wen the scales go up and down either. it's normal to fluctuate. I plan my food for the next day sometimes. Just trial and error. You CAN do it! Add me if u like for support. xx1 -

Give yourself a break for goodness' sake, you have a four month old baby. And stop expecting perfection. It is not necessary.
Fill in your details on myfitnesspal, set your goal to half a pound a week to ease yourself in, and start logging your food and exercise and trying to stay within your goal. You will not be perfect, but you don't need to be. You just need to keep at it.
You can do this, just give yourself a chance.2 -

Thank you, you sound like my husband lol, but it's so true. And I know this in my head I will never be perfect but sometimes I find it hard to let up x0 -
And also, don't feel you have to overhaul what you eat or make anything special. Obviously be mindful of things that will still keep you full in a smaller portion but you can mostly just eat what you've always eaten. Weigh it and log it so you know it's not too much and voila! Lots of people meal plan etc and it is a good strategy but it's not something I can do often so I wing it. I have still lost weight just fine.
You don't have a lot to lose (relatively) so take it slow, make little tweaks here and there and it will all come good in the end. You don't need perfection, just consistency over the long term.0 -

Try your best. Perfectionism has to be one of the biggest barriers to weight loss, as with it comes the whole "I ate a cookie so now I might as well give up and eat everything" mindset. If you want success, you need to abandon that and adopt the attitude "I ate a cookie, so what?", log the cookie and move on. If there is any such thing as The Secret, this is it.2 -

I don't know what you've set your goal as, but if you set up MFP to lose 2lbs a week and it gave you a target of 1200, this is too aggressive if you only want to lose 7lbs (apologies if this isn't the case). If you change your goal to 0.5lb a week it will give you more calories to play with - you need all the energy you can get with a little one! x0 -
For motivation. Do you want to dance at your grandchild's wedding?
Now is the time to begin. Best of luck1 -
