Is this normal?

I have been eating healthier and less for about a week and a half now. I've also been walking a mile each night. Each day I've not been hungry and have been doing really well. Until......today! I have been hungry EVERY hour! LIke my stomach growling and everything. This is so discouraging because I've been doing so well! Has this happened to any of you?

YES it's normal. I have days where I could eat anything and everything and other days where I don't want to eat at all and everything in between.
  • Well I am so relieved to know that I'm not crazy! Yes I went over my calories a lot today. I am done for the night! haha. But I just keep telling myself that this is a lifestyle change not a diet and there wll be days when I eat more than 1200 calories!

I think we all have those extra hungry days. If you're missing your calorie target by hundreds of calories per day, it could be your body rebelling and you just need to eat more. If you are hitting your target, hang in there. No idea how you're eating currently, but you might consider bumping up the protein and lowering the carbs a bit, as protein tends to be more filling/satiating.

That happened to me, I was so hungry during one week I just couldn't understand it. I then mulled it over a little while later and realized I had upped my gym routine by going longer and doing more intense workouts. Eat more calories if you need to, just don't turn to junk and make sure you're taking in enough calories.

not REMOTELY crazy - in fact I now listen to my body on those days because I realized it was often after I really "felt" the burn the day or two before and it was my muscles requiring more fuel for repair...

Yup, I've been on MFP for almost 3 months now for every day. And like clockwork, I get insanely hungry once a week. Because I'm incredibly good about working out and eating very healthy, I allow myself to indulge a bit on those days where I'm really hungry. I'm 80 days in and 21 pounds down so its not killing me!

...just make sure the indulgence isn't a large pizza and tub of ice cream:wink:

so true... the really hungry days are usually after lighter eating and intense workouts... at least for me.
  • Well I did run for the first time (in a lonnnggg time) last night...hmmm.... But I've also only been eating about 1100 calories. I was eating over 2500 a day!! :blushing: So I'm sure my body is like "WHAT IN THE WORLD?!"
