Good morning everyone!

I was wondering if there is a such thing as TOO much dairy? I never realized how much I consume on a daily basis until I started faithfully logging my meals. Will too much dairy hinder me reaching my weight loss goal?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Too much dairy = eating over your daily calorie goal in dairy

No one food or food group will prevent you from reading your weight loss goal.

Does it fit your calories and macros? If yes, it's not too much, if no, then it might be!

Thank you everyone ... I do sometimes go over my calories so I will keep an eye on that.

Too much dairy overall can cause constipation (which may result in short-term gain), but as long as you stay close to your calorie allotment (and not all of it is dairy) then you probably won't have an issue.

That is one thing I didn't consider. THANK YOU!

Eating too any calories from any food will hinder your weight loss. If you stick to your calorie goal then go ahead and eat dairy.
If you are using the majority of your calories on dairy you may be missing some nutrients and fiber so might want to cut down a bit and eat some other foods.

CICO is king for weight loss, but a variety of foods is good for health. Here's a cheat sheet I keep in the notes section of my diary. I don't hit it EVERY day, but usually........

    vegetables - 5 servings
    fruits - 4 servings
    whole grains - 3 servings
    dairy - 3 servings
    meat/eggs/fish - 1 serving (4oz)
    nuts/seeds/beans/legumes - 1 serving
fats and oils - 2 servings

I would not hit the fruits, nut/seed/beans/legumes, or whole grains portion. Well played in a nice spread, I don't think I could keep up with that!

I really enjoy cheeses and ice cream, but it's definitely in moderation due to the calorie content. You can consume too much calcium into your system to have issues beyond bowel, but you have to work at it.

It's really not as hard as it seems. An apple with lunch, a tangerine as a snack and some grapes for dessert knock out the fruits. Whole grains can be 100 cal popcorn, 1/2 English muffin and small bowl of Oatmeal. Nuts - 14 almonds or a sprinkle of seeds on a salad. I used to eat A LOT of dairy to hit my protein goal, but have since found alternate sources.
