Does your gym have a swimming pool? Excellent cardio and burns many more calories than the treadmill.0

It could very possibly be your shoes. Check out this link: http://www.runningfit.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=129&Itemid=85. I replace mine when my feet start to hurt and feel swollen after I run (though I've never had issues with my knees.) Good luck!0

I'm so sorry to hear about your knees!!!
I found that a stationary bike was easier on them, ironically I found the elliptical to be easier on them as well which is strange I know..
I had a lot more knee related issues when I was around 400 so I had to switch up what I did A LOT in order to stay in the gym 5 days a week....
Also - seriously - after 3+ days of pain - hon - please - for us - go see a doc?0 -
Hey there,
I havent had a whole lot of joint issues, but after a hard session at the gym I use a muscle gel called Biofreeze. It's a medicated gel that relieves joint and muscle pain. I'm no where near qualified to give advice but that's my only bit for you. GOOD LUCK!0 -
Switch to an elliptical. Close to running with low impact on the feet and knees. It is kind of awkward to begin with but once you get the hang of it, you'll love it.0

I don't go to the gym but I watch a lot of weight loss shows and when people have knee injuries they usually only use the treadmill or the elliptical machine. Anything that is low impact. However, I am not sure and I don't want to give you bad advice! It could also be that your body needs some rest. 30 days straight takes a toll, I suggest a day of rest every week.0

I was going to say the same thing!!!!
I have been using the ellipitcal for almost 4 months now, I have never felt pain from the elliptical!!!!0 -
I started working out in February and after a week my knees were hurting sooo bad I could barely walk and I went to the dr. and all he did was give me 800mg Motrin and told me to take it prior to working out! I don't want to live on pain killers and I read that Sketchers Shape-Ups take a lot of stress of your knees and ankles so I bought a pair and they really work.... I don't think they are making me lose weight any faster but they have definitely helped out with my knees!! I also just recently started taking a joint supplement so I don't ever have that kind of pain again!!
I hope your knees get better soon!0 -

I agree that you might need new shoes. Not all running shoes are made the same. If I wear Nikes my knees are killing me after a few weeks so I switched to Adidas and I don't have any more issues until they are worn out and need to be replaced.0 -

As was said, stationary bikes are good, and even better are recumbents when it comes to knee pain.

I have had the exact same problem with both the eliptical and the treadmill. My knees were very painful and even got very swollen. So I got advice from a Physical Therapist friend of mine, and she said that ( in my case anyway) it is a matter of ergonomics. When you straighten out your leg as you are walking, do you completely straighten you knee, to the point of locking the joint? That was my mistake. Now I am very careful to be aware and always keep my knees from locking. Good luck!0
