So I am 99% sure I have plantar fasciitis. Those of you that have had it, how long does it take to get rid of it? What were your biggest helps getting rid of it? What are exercises that I can do and still burn calories and what exercise are big NO NOs? I am a teacher and we have 2 trip coming up in the next few months. I want to be able to work out, but don't want to end up injuring myself to the point I won't be able to go on our trips. Oh is nausea a symptom. I have been a little sick to my stomach since I have been noticing the pain (excruciating) in my heel. I also have a burning and tingling feeling in my foot and lower leg.

plantar fasciitis generally hurts more when you first get up -after sleeping, sitting all day, etc. Pain can make you nauseated but burning & tingling are generally attributed to nerve pain so you might want to have your diagnosis confirmed by a medical professional. It can take weeks to get rid of, any kind of tendonitis can be very tenacious and prone to recurrence. Stretching, ice, NSAIDs are the three most important things you can do. I imagine cycling & swimming would be the best aerobic exercises? walking is not contraindicated unless a medical professional tells you so. Best of luck, I had it in both feet at the same time, very aggravating. Ended up getting a steroid shot in one before it finally cleared up. No such thing as too much stretching-

Thanks. Both feet. Wow! One is bad enough. Yes, pain usually first thing in the morning and when sitting a while.

I have experienced Plantar's off and on for about five years on top of a stress fracture. I found out that Vionics ( specifically for foot pain) shoes work really good. I do ytube chair exercises to maintain my exercise routines. I lost weight and that really helped. It took about three months for me to get rid of mine. However when I wear cheap shoes that don't have support I get a reaccurance. Also when I've had a long day I use a frozen water bottle to roll under my feet while sitting.

I suffered from that for way too long. At the time I started treatment my Dr. told me to expect about a year for it to get better and I would say he was about right - Sorry. But that was for every little inkling on pain and discomfort to go away, basically before I could wear a ballet flat again. Recently I had a little relapse and I pulled out my Tuli's Heavy Duty Heel Cups, I replaced the well worn originals with a pair from Amazon, I put them in my socks and kept them on except to change my socks and shower - that means sleeping in them because when you get up in the middle of night or in the morning you can agitate the problem. I was surprised that the pain went away in a few days.

I had it real bad for a long time untill I bought Skechers memory foam shoes and had zero pain was walking in them took about 6 months to 9 months to get rid of that completely and that was a couple years ago and I still have some pain every once while I'm walking on hardwood floors or cement barefoot but other than that it's pretty much gone now my wife has it also but the shoes never did help her at all

I had/have it in both feet. It occasionally flares up. The best things *for me* included wearing the night braces on both feet (Amazon.com about $25 each) when I went to bed or was sitting watching TV or reading. Also it helped to wear the original Crocs clogs OR the Payless ripoff version as much as possible. Hideous shoes indeed but when you're in that much pain you don't care. I wore them alllllll the time and never went barefoot. Even sneakers -- good ones -- hurt my feet and Crocs never did. I still wear them a lot though I wear the prettier versions of them.
Other friends with P F did not see the relief I did, but it surely helped me.

Mine went away when I finally bought myself a quality pair of shoes. I bought doc martens with additional insoles because my main concern was fit and making my shoes last, but a few day after wearing them it went away. No more cheap shoes for me.

Before that, stretching helped a lot, as did moving around because it would hurt more after sitting for a long period of time, and especially in the morning.
