small victories?

I reached 10lbs lost last Wednesday, officially! I don't have any pictures, but that's okay, because 10lbs is 10lbs. I heard someone on here say that 10lbs = 1 pant size ... and they were right! I officially have no pants that I can wear without a belt now. Non-scale victory for sure.
That's not the biggest small victory though. Today I went to the bathroom at work, and when I looked in the mirror as I washed my hands, it hit me. I look GOOD. And I also noticed that since I've started this lifestyle change, I've had less and less of those "I'm so fat and ugly" days or days where I just hate my body.
I ran three miles today! Three miles without stopping. It took me close to thirty minutes, but I don't care. The last time I could run three miles without stopping was ... almost four years ago, exactly.
Its been almost four months since I've smoked a cigarette, and its been almost four months since I've consumed any alcohol (please don't judge me on that one, I know I'm only 19). Its been two months since I've drank more than just a sip of a Coke (any kind of soda).
Anyway. I just wanted to share these victories here, since non of my "real life" friends seem to be very encouraging ... or even feel remotely happy for me. Yay for MFP!

Hi Nichole:
You know celebrating victories is wonderful. People are more selfish these days and rather than encourage they criticize. I say we need to compliment as many people with truthful things but positive.
I don't know you but CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR SUCCESSES!!!!! You said you look in the mirror and do not say negative things to yourself, that lady is your second biggest success!!!!!!!!
People on here are all striving for a goal, small, medium or large, but each one is a personal goal and by sharing you encourage others. Write on somones blog and say something nice, you will find you made someones day. I hope I helped you feel great and have a smile on your face.0 -
Yay, Garrett! You're doing so well with all those healthy changes! It's great to hear that you are feeling so positive about yourself now. Keep it up, girl! Wish you were closer so we could be running buddies.0

Hey, way to go!!!! A victory is a victory no matter how big or small. Hard work and dedication = progress = results. 10lbs is great and dropping a pant size is all kinds of motivation! Keep it up!0

Congrats! So exciting!!!!! I love MFP for the same reason... not alot of support from real life people :-/ Thanks for your success story! It was what I was looking for... some inspiration :-D
So glad you are feeling so good :-D0 -
Awesome job! I can't wait until my pants need belts
I know what you mean by "real life" friends no caring 2 cents! I tell my friends and family about my little victories and all I usually get is a, "Oh...really?...cool."

Sometimes I don't even get a "cool!" I get a stanky look, because my best friend is extremely insecure, and I was always the "bigger" friend... She used me to make herself feel better ... and now she can't, because I weigh less than she does! (:
Thanks so much everyone.0 -
It sounds like you are definitely on the right track! Good for you! You should really be proud of yourself. Quitting smoking alone is hard and the fact you did that, plus everything else is awesome. Way to go! :happy:0

Congratulations times a BILLION! Making lifestyle changes isn't easy...in the least bit! I'm happy and proud of you! I especially know how it feels to try to make them without much encouragement from the people around you/people who matter, so super congrats on still sticking to it!0
