How long is it ok to plateau?

Advice needed please! I had been losing weight fairly steadily, then stopped for a couple of weeks, then suddenly three pounds off ( put that down to Tom ) then my weight has plateaud for three weeks now. I've been under my calories just about every day ( I eat back most of my exercise calories) I've been working out hard just about every day. Now I have been pushing weights so yes, my muscles could be holding on to water, but for how long is my question? How long should I just keep on keeping on before thinking that I'm doing something wrong? I've been strength training for at least six weeks, so even if my muscles are still hanging on to water surely I should be burning off some fat too? Surely I should see those numbers dropping
So should i just sit tight, carry on regardless, or do i need to think about changing what i'm doong now? My motivation is really starting to waver, any words of wisdom would be very appreciated

I think a plateau of 3 weeks is actually pretty normal. I had read in Thin for Life by Anne Fletcher that plateaus of several weeks are really not at all unusual. When you get to 5 or 6 weeks, that's getting to the point where you should look at changing something.
I would say maybe if nothing changes by next week, make a change. Maybe only eat back 1/2 your exercise calories. And/or increase your intensity of your workouts, ie throw in some sprints in your cardio.
Good luck! Hang in there. It's all so worth it. Look at this as a test, and figure out how to pass the test.0
