Hello from Tennessee!

Hello Everyone,
Since I have never posted on the message board, I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Charlotte and I am 51 years old. I live in Tennessee, in a small rural town. I am married, and have a beautiful "bonus son" who will soon turn 18. He lives with his mom and stepdad, but we visit when we can fit into his schedule.
I have been very overweight all my life. My highest weight was at least 500 lbs. when I was fifteen years old. I say at least because there was no scale that read high enough at that time. I was the youngest person to ever get a gastric bypass. I lost down to 250, but with no counseling emotionally/psychologically/nutritionally, I soon gained back to 300+.
I had a horrible moment at the doctor's office last Tuesday when the scale read 380 lbs. I almost cried in front of the nurse. My husband is a big man, but I weigh more than he does. I am so ashamed of what I have done to my body. But I am determined to turn it around. Since then I have watched my diet, exercised every day (as my arthritis will allow), and journal every bit I eat.
I hope that I can make some friends here and some "cheerleaders," and also be a
"cheerleader" for others. I think people need all the support they can get!
Take care,
Charlotte

Hello Charlotte,
"But I am determined to turn it around." Good on you for taking steps to get where you want to be. You can do it, and with that attitude, you WILL do it!
You are right, support is key. And you will find that here. I met my goal and I place a lot of the credit for that on my MFP Pal's. They have been with me though some personally tough times as well as this weight loss thing. They celebrate my losses and remind me to get back on the path (in a non-judgmental way) when I have strayed. They are golden.
Wishing you success,
Ann
