I have recently started the c25k programme and have got to week 2 however about 10 minutes in I get a searing pain down my right lower leg that just gets worse until I am forced to stop. It then carries on for a good 10 minutes after I have stopped, eventually fading away. What is this and is there any way to stop it from happening? I really don't want to stop running if it can be helped.

Front of the leg, back of the leg, inside or outside?

Are you running in recently purchased, dedicated shoes or are they older/ been used for something else?

What pace are you running at?

front of leg slightly off centre towards the outside. New running shoes. I wear orthotics for plantar fasciitis as well.Running at about 8kmh so not fast.

Sounds like it might be shin splints, so a physiotherapist might be worth a try.

There are a few potential contributors, including the shoes being inappropriate.

You might want to try some exercises to strengthen the shin muscle; toe raises, cycling while clipped in etc.

try slowing down even more. 8km/h was fast for me when i first started. And see a doctor if it continues.
