For the previously pregnant women out there

I need some ideas on bland foods that won't evacuate an hour after eating them. I am 38 weeks pregnant, and have started to have severe abdominal pain and diarrhea after eating certain foods. Right now, I'll I've been able to eat is plain chicken and rice crackers. Anyone have any suggestions I could try, since these are getting boring? We are starting the induction process Wednesday night, so hopefully it's only for a few more days.

I can't say this happened to me. I might try making homemade yogurt bars? Maybe being frozen + eaten over a period of time will help? I can definately say my appetite dropped right off before I went in to labour with both of mine.0

Sound interesting-will look up how to make them.0

If that works I would also try frozen fruit purees. Those two things were all I could keep down when I had horrid morning sickness with my second.0

Unfortunately fruit is out. Apple sauce has made me sick since the first trimester. Every time I have a piece of fruit right now, and hour later I have horrible stomach pain.

You should probably talk to your ob/gyn. Buncha fitness yahoos on the internet is no substitute for real medical advice.4

I would also recommend talking to your doctor - your symptoms could be related to prodormal labour.
I can't tell you what isn't going to upset your stomach - only you will know that. And while chicken and rice cakes are really boring... it is a very short season that is quickly coming to an end.0 -

Nothing wrong with asking for other peoples experiences. And who said I didn't speak to my doctor?1 -
I had diarrhea for a few days before I went into labor with my first @ 41 weeks. I also had vile reflux and intensely painful cramps with my second @ 36 weeks or so, my ob thought it might be gallstones or something like that, but didn't investigate.0

I'm sorry, but the more I think about this reply the more annoyed I get. By this logic, no one should ask for anyone's advice here.2 -

Elphie's gotten quite a bit of sound advice concerning her pregnancy + food from people on here. I'm confident she's smart enough to weed out the bad advice.
I don't have anything to help. I had a "normal" pregnancy with little sickness. My go-tos when I am sick like that are bread or crackers and 7-Up.0 -
I never had abdominal pains/diarrhoea from food whilst pregnant. I did get Braxton Hicks contractions but that is different. Both my kids were late...one ten days late the other seven days late..so I've been over forty weeks pregnant. I even ate while in labour...no diarrhoea then either. So not sure what you are experiencing is pregnancy related? A diet of chicken and rice crackers does have very little fibre...maybe the issue you are having is due to a low fibre diet? Try adding in vegetables/salads.

Ginger? Ginger ale, ginger pills, etc? And, while I totally get the annoyance at a previous response, it may be a good idea to check back in with your doc since dehydration happens more easily during pregnancy, and that was my docs biggest concern re: food. If you're having diarrhea and not eating much, you could dehydrate really quickly. Your OB may consider moving up your induction (I think I recall you mentioning a planned induction or CS?) If you're at risk of becoming more ill by waiting.0

Ginger ale and anything with fizz in it seems to make things worse. I am tryingnsome probiotics at the advice of my OB. Unfortunately Wednesday is the earliest we can start the induction due to her having OR/CS scheduled for today and tomorrow and doesn't want to overload the unit.perkymommy wrote: »I need some ideas on bland foods that won't evacuate an hour after eating them.
