Dear MFP users!
Hope you all are having a great day. This is the first time I've posted a thread on MFP and I'm very happy to say that I've lost 30.6 pounds in 3 months.
My story : I was an overweight guy growing up and then at the age of 18 entering into medical school, I've decided to lose weight and I've been maintaining my weight loss ever since with healthy eating habits and regular exercise. In the past 2 years there were a few unfortunate incidents which happened in my life which got me derailed and I put on 37 pounds. I lost my father suddenly who was a physician himself and my hero and idol in everything, and then went through a break up with my ex girlfriend as she couldn't wait for me to finish my boards as I was delaying it due to not being motivated enough after my dads loss. I am studying for my boards at the moment and those incidents were very demotivating and I couldn't study. Now I just said that's it, I need to be my own hero of my life story and bounce back and I started lifting weights and counting my calories. I always maintained at 185 pounds being 5'11 and I ballooned to 222.8 these last 2 years after those incidents.
In the past 3 months I've lost 30.6 pounds and I'm currently 192.2. I have another 7 pounds to lose and I'm so happy about this and I gained back my self esteem and confidence! Now I'm tackling my boards as my weight loss has given me a lot of confidence once again to achieve anything I want in my life and to get into residency.
If anyone is interested in what my workouts were and my diet I'd be more than happy to share. Please check out my progress pics and if anyone's interested being my friend so that we can motivate each other that would be fantastic
Thank you all so much!! Love this community and you guys are always so patient and helpful.

Good job! What an inspiring story. I also lost my dad after a short battle with lung cancer last year. It caused me to gain 30 lbs so I definitely can empathize. Also, my brother had to deal with my daddy's death while in 3rd year residency working 80-90 hours a week at the hospital which he says was and is extremely difficult. Keep your chin up! You can make it through!0

Loss can always derail us, but getting back to it is where the strength comes in. You are on your way! Congrats!1

I'm so sorry to hear this. I hope you are strong and positive! I can't even imagine the pain your brother must have gone through managing residency and your fathers loss.
