21 day fix and HRM

Hello all,
So I started 21 day fix this week and finally got a battery for my HRM again so that I could get a calorie burned reading. I just did the 30 min Lower Fix and my HRM says I burned 320 cal! I was expecting in the 100 range. Im 5'8" and 185 lbs and I have a Polar HRM with chest strap. Does this burn sound right? Im really out of shape so maybe it's just that I have to work extra hard right now?
I suppose it doesn't make a huge difference since I don't eat back my exercise Cal's, but im more just curious.

Im sorry I'm not sure I understand. So they won't work while doing a workout routine?0

I set my fitbit to workout and I have good calorie burn between 300 and 400 each workout... in fact I have been doing 21df for a week now and have lost 3lb and 13.5 inches0

A HRM doesn't know what you are doing. It only responds to HR. When doing an interval type class/video after a layoff, your body can get a little out of control because of the movements in those types of workouts and the fact that intensity is usually not modulated very well.
That will often lead to an elevated heart rate, disproportionate to the intensity of the exercise. Since the HRM only counts heart rate, you end up with an elevated calorie burn.0 -
21 day fix is a lot of weight training, which is not accurately measured by a heart rate monitor due to the stop go nature of it and the "after burn" of your muscles when the weight training stops. I will say, you definitely burned more than 100 calories for the 30 minutes. How much more though is pretty variable, even day to do. HR monitors work best for steady state cardio (think running, swimming, biking).0
