53 pounds since January 2016, but the majority came off within the first eight months. I've basically been stalled out since then, no fault other than my own.

Patience.
It takes time.
Forgive yourself.
We all have those not so great days. To succeed, you forgive yourself and get back on track the next day.
No guilt.
Don't let food choices make you feel guilty. You can have a cookie or a small slice a cake. It's okay. Plan your day around it. Just don't eat the whole cake or a package of cookies. I mean you could, but that will make weight loss a bit slower (or worse) and you might end up sick to your stomach.
Find acivities you enjoy.
Don't force yourself to do an exercise routine you don't enjoy. You don't enjoy it; your likely to ditch it. Find something that you want to do. Something that keeps you active and you love.
When you want to quit
Remember time is going to pass. You can make slow progression towards your goal or give up an never get any closer to reaching it.
