Pea Protein

If you're looking for a protein powder that is not from animals, try Pea Protein. Pea protein is low in carbs (1g per scoop), has 24g of quality protein, and branch chain amino acids. Tastes like peas. Mixes well.

Pea isn't a complete protein source by itself. However, when blended with rice protein, it works perfectly.

I had a spell where I was dairy intolerant and wanted to give it a try.

I can't get past the taste, man. I tried. I bought the pea, I bought the rice.

I just couldn't. I tried it in recipes. Nope. I tried different brands. Double nope.

Beyond Meat seems to mask the awfulness well, and I don't know what their secret is, but kudos to them. I love Beyond Meat's pea protein meat substitute products but can't stand anything else I've ever tasted with pea protein in it.

Yeah, I haven't found one that tastes that good.

The Vega ones (mix of proteins) are okay if you do them in a smoothie with lots of other ingredients, but just in oatmeal, ugh, they don't mix right. On the other hand a plain whey protein powder is nice and neutral and mixes well (and there are a variety of brands/flavors that taste good to me).

Ripple (a new milk made from peas) also seems to hide it well -- I couldn't taste it at all.

    Fred Sanford's beverage of choice.

and I had no idea Beyond Meat used pea protein -- I've only tried it in a restaurant, never looked at the package in stores.
