It's science though 5 days of cutting out over 1000 calories to normal and adding walking should lost some kind of weight. 5 years ago it would have lost me like half a stone

Cutting out 1000 cal/day cannot, even under ideal conditions that don't exist in the real world, lose you more than 2 lbs in a week. Never as much as 1/2 stone.

Please post your starting weight and what your goal weight is.

Here is some science for you:

On average, there is 3,500 calories of pound in 1 fat. That means to lose 1 pound of fat you must create a 3,500 deficit. Usually people do this by cutting out 500 calories each day over 7 days (7 x 500 =3,500). There are 7 days in a week. They must cut out 500 calories each day. If they are unable to do this, they won't create a deficit you to lose.

You have not created a large enough deficit to lose weight.

Also, how long did it take you to reach your current weight? I am going to guess longer then 5 days. You need to be more patient.

Not trying to get you down, just trying to help give you realistic expectations.

Give it more time, we didn't gain our weight quickly why should we expect to lose quickly.

If you're not used to the walking then you'll see a temporary water weight gain which can hide your fat loss. Don't sweat it, have patience, and don't be extreme. You can eat normal food as long as you stay at your calorie goal.

If for each of 5 days, your calorie deficit was 1,000 calories, you STILL could have ONLY lost 1 1/2 pounds. That's it. It's only 5 days. (If you had less of a calorie deficit, you'd have lost less)

If you would have NOT exercised, you would have likely lost that 1 1/2 pounds.

But since you DID exercise, a pound and 1/2 of water you drank (24oz) is likely there repairing your muscles. Once the muscles are repaired in a few days, those 1 1/2 pounds will vanish.

It takes time. If you give up and think nothing's working, you will regain the 1 1/2 pound loss you had, never realizing what you're doing was working.

You honestly may have been cutting to many calories and walking more only increased your need for food. Therefore, I would probably say that your body thinks you are starving and is holding onto those calories? I'm not a doctor, but from everything that I've read... that could be the case!

Calorie deficits cause weight loss. Doesn't matter if it's all shakes or potatoes if you aren't in a deficit you won't lose. Not all shakes are created equal and if you aren't weighing everything you eat and log everything you eat and drink you may still be consuming enough for maintenance. That being said 5 days isn't enough time to judge if what you are doing is working or not. Let MFP calculate a reasonable calorie deficit (0.5-2 pounds per week since I don't know your stats). Weigh and log everything. Have patience.

That's not science, it sounds more like medieval torture.

Why are you cutting more than 1000 cals daily and cutting out foods de/food groups? If the last time you did this diet worked so well, why did you have to repeat it? It sounds like an unsustainable, unhealthy (mind and nutrition) quick loss. Successful weight loss is more than losing weight, it's about maintenance, too.

A wise wabbit once said something along the lines of:
The winner is the one who can eat the most food and still lose weight.

Also, use a food scale for everything that isn't a liquid. Cups/spoons for liquid only.

    Nope, sorry. Not true.

OP I have gone weeks of perfect tracking without losses. The body isn't a car, it's not a simple input vs immediate output at x rate of fuel per mile.

You need to chill, probably eat more, preferably actual food and be consistent over time. That's not days but weeks and months and years.
