Should your choice of post workout food differ based on if you've done cardio vs strength training?

post work out nutrition is severely over rated. It really only matters for elite athletes and body builders. So eat what you like, or don't eat anything; boils down to personal preference.

Post workout food is largely unnecessary, unless you are an elite athlete. Eat when you're hungry.

I generally time my workouts early in the am, so I'm eating bkfst after. Should it be more protein skewed if I've done strength training? I'm not an elite athlete; I just want to get the most out of my workout since I'm still trying to lose some weight. But I get sick of protein shakes.

as long as you meet your macro targets for the day then it really does not matter. However, protein and carbs can help aid in recovery, so it would not be a bad idea to incorporate those, but not necessary if your macros for the day are correct.
