How can I drop the water weight?

Hey, so I jumped on the scale the other day and realized I had gained 5 pounds in 1 week. I know that's not fat and it's water weight since even my clothes are fitting differently.
Quick back story, a week ago I was 184. The next day (which was a Saturday) I did a pretty intensive hike and had a bit of sodium so I had expected to gain some water weight (which was around 2-3 pounds). I also have started a new job where I'm really physically active and yesterday I weighed myself and the scale said 189. Since starting my new job, I've noticed a lot of water retention.
My question is, is there a quick way to drop the water weight?

Cardio. Keep sweating until all the extra water is lying on the floor.1

When I gain water weight I watch my carbs. I eat only two servings a day. Although it depends on your weight. You may be able to have more or less.1

What's wrong with just allowing your body to do it's thing? I don't understand why people view this as a problem to be solved.4

Calories are lil to high dont matter how much water you drink or workout. Miss counting calories0

I was curious because it I gain a couple pounds for water weight then my clothes hurt me. I wear my clothes to fit. So it matters a lot to me if I have water weight. I wanna be comfy in my clothes0 -

At any moment you're 2 lbs away from a different size? Yikes!
The OP seemed to specifically be referencing exercise-related water retention. In that case, it's helping your body perform an important function- muscle repair. It levels out on it's own over time. I guess I just feel like the human body is an amazing thing, but requires some flexibility from the owner (possibly in the form of spandex blends)

@try2again is completely right. It is not a problem to be solved. It's just a natural part of adapting to exercise. Your body is healing and it needs that water. Leave it alone and focus on more important things.1
