Mahshi (stuffed grape leaves), musaka, koshari ( I doubt it will be a low. Cal dish, but it's one of my favorites -same with macaroni and beschamel), shakshuka, kofta, falafel, baba ghanoush, molokheya (you should be able to find frozen jewsmallow In a middle eastern store), tabouleh, orzo soup with stew meat, chicken panne.0

I made some unsavory noises while looking at those pics, and at the recipe. Bf had to check up on me.
... It looks mouth-watering.

I can't think of many low calorie ones, many of them are both starch and fat heavy which is a glorious combination (I got fat for a reason). molokheya (jewsmallow) is a good exception. It has a slightly slimy texture that may put off some people who try it for the first time, but it's amazing if you grew up eating it or managed to get used to it. Lots of lemon juice is a must!
Try this one out. It could be alright if using lower fat meat although tastes best with regular fat meat.

This is another one that could be made lighter by roasting the eggplant:

This is a very hearty kind of soup that is lighter on calories:

I roast salmon topped with zaatar and serve it with roasted carrots with a bit of yogurt that I mix with herbs & spices, and roasted cauliflower tossed with ras el hanout. And a bit of a salad with pepper, cucumbers, feta, mint, cilantro & parsley.1

Noel, I love hummus but the traditional hummus is a little too high in carbs for me. I'm wondering if your carrot hummus combined with my cauliflower hummus might be delicious. I think so. I'm looking at your recipe and wonder..1 tablespoon of fresh squeezed what? Lemon juice? Something else? Thanks!0
