Anyone have tips on how to properly store your salads? I buy the kale antioxidant salad kit and find it goes slimy several days before the expiry date. The bag costs $7 so it makes me mad!

I've always put my greens in a bowl in the fridge with a damp paper towel over top, which keeps them from wilting.

I did stop buying bigger packages though because they just don't keep very long.

@cnbbnc Thanks! Is humidity good for salad? I always adjust my fridge's fruits and veggies shelf on "low humidity."

The closer you keep it to living conditions the better. Damp, cool but with good air circulation. The number one way I enjoy vegetables is to eat them fresh so I buy small and buy often.

The only exception are the root vegetables and cabbage. They are practically indestructible.

Yup like someone else mentioned. Put it in a bowl with papertowl on top. Lasts much longer!
