How often to drink protein shakes?

I currently drink one shake per day (1 scoop=30g) post workout. I make up the rest of the protein through my diet. My goal is lean muscle gain and I have about 10 pounds to lose. I weigh 130lbs right now. I work out daily for 1-2 hours...cardio and weight training. I see results as far as weight loss. I can visually see that I have lost inches, however, the stubborn scale stays between 130 and 132 for the last four months. I am not seeing a lot of muscle but I'm toned. I'm thinking maybe I need to up my protein? Right now my goal is about 110g of protein per day. Should I increase this?

Drink them whenever you need the supplemental protein. I usually do two scoops of powder a day. I do one right after my workout, and I make it into a Diy Quest bar. The other scoop (which I actually use Quest-brand protein for) I make into a pudding and eat right before bed. I don't eat much meat for cost reasons, so I need the extra protein. Your needs may vary based on your diet and activity level.

At most, you really only need 100-130 grams of protein a day. If you're having trouble hitting that goal while staying within your daily calorie target, then protein powder may be a good option. Otherwise, there's no additional benefit to powder over other sources of protein.
