Hello.
Several years ago I went through a hellacious divorce (aren't they all?) and with the stress I lost nearly 40 lbs by basically starving. After a few years I gained it back (I blame happiness!) after getting remarried to a terrific man. Now that we have an empty nest we want to travel on the motorcycle and some other things that my excess weight doesn't jive with. I'd like to lose it correctly this time. I'm a vegetarian of several decades and I really do know how to eat right ;I've just gotten into some very bad habits and snack addictions. I eat when I'm bored. I eat when I'm lonely. I eat when I'm upset. You get the idea.
I have a multiple joint injuries and I've let them be my excuse for doing absolutely no exercise so now I have so much pain in the mornings I wonder if I can get out of bed some days. Anyway... my husband bought me the great NordicTrak ET the orthopedic surgeon recommended and I'm trying to learn to love it. I also follow the "Yoga For Aches & Pains" dvd when I remember because it does relieve the a.m. pain some.
I love the calorie tracker and food diary here. It's much easier than another unnamed diet & fitness site offered. I also like how everything is automatically calculate for me. The easier it is the more likely I will stick to it. Hopefully anyway.
There's the Cliff Notes version of why I'm here.

Thank You both for the welcome! bbear, I've had some great times in your city (went to nursing school there in the 80s)! Garcia's on Central was the scene of many early morning red chile breakfasts!0
