okay i have been doing insanity for almost a month now, and when i do it i go all out , push my hardest (sometimes to the point of almost passing) and it seems everyone else i have see have so much higher calorie burns. I tend to go around 300-320 (350 being the hightest). I don't slack , like i said i push it to my limit. but dont understand why i am so much lower then everyone

Are you using an HRM? If you are using an HRM, you are getting the most accurate reading. Some people will only use the default calories burned listed in the database. Not nearly as accurate and they may be thinking they are burning more calories than they actually are.0

People on this site overestimate calories like mad. I'm stunned sometimes to see people burning 800 calories in 25 minutes of "cleaning" or whatever.... not sure who they're trying to impress.0

As long as you are pushing to YOUR limit, that's all that matters, and it's all you can ask for. Aside from calorie burns, are you seeing changes in your body, losing weight, toning up, etc?0

Keep in mind the effect of body size if you are using an HRM, too! My wife and I do the same running routine right now as we train for a 5K, and I always burn a couple hundred more calories than she does because I'm bigger than she is. I'm not familiar with the Insanity routine, but based on your ticker weight by your signature, the numbers you listed could be quite accurate for your body.0

LOL I do find this so funny, the only way your truly going to be getting accurate calorie burns is a HRM that is tailored to your hight weight and age Im burning usually anywhere from 800-1100 calories every insanity workout and thats no BS I push myself hard but everyone pushes differently the key is to leave the workout feeling like you laid everythingn out on the table and gave it everything you had!

I'm assumign you have an HRM with a chest strap.
Check that the setting are accurate.
What is your max heart trate and average hreat rate. That's what drives the calories burned calculation.
Seems a little low.
For comparison:
I'm male, 42 ans 182 pounds and I burned 465 calories doing Cardio Pwer and resistance last week. My max HR was 160 and Ave was 130. That info was from my Polar FT4

Whatever happens, it's definitely better to under-estimate your exercise calories, than over, otherwise you'll be eating up calories you haven't burnt. Just carry on as you are and don't worry about anyone else. Quite apart from anything else, your body metabolism could be very different to everyone else's.:flowerforyou:0

Some of the best advice I've ever got was "The only person you need to compare yourself with is YOU. Don't compare yourself to others, compare who you are today to who you were before."0

yep i use a hrm. with chest strap.
i have noticed changes in inches and clothes not so much in weight but that has been issue for a while.
i have also notice that my heart rate does not get as high as when i started , though i am pushing as hard if not hard, and able to go more with less breaks. i dont know if its the hrm or me.0 -

i look at it more well if it only says 300 instea of the 600 somepeople list, i dont have to try and eat that i am not a big eater0 -

I agree with this. My HRM tells me I burn 500-700 per workout. Before, I wasn't really too sure about what I really burned. It was a good investment I made.0 -

Are you using the chest strap properly? Most will have you wet the little pads on it or use a special gel for it. And does it allow you to set your weight at least?
And is it tight enough and are you putting in the proper place on your body (right under your breasts?) I have found that doing high intensity training mine sometimes moves or my sports bra will move up and get caught underneath once in a while... have to make sure it's tight enough and not moving around.0 -
i think all my setting are right, i did it by the book, its a polar f7.
well i guess most of you are right, i know i am working as hard as i possible can (as gross as it sounds somtimes to the point of puking) so i guess numbers are just numbers and i shouldnt worry.
by the way i am 42 197 today my averge hr was148 max was 165 and i burned 326 cals0 -
maybe your body is working more efficiently now compared to when you first started?0

Try to compare your HRM reading to your actual pulse rate and see what you get. For me (179 lbs 5'6", 38 yrs) I would average in the high 130's and keep it not more that 155 for an Insanity workout. This translate to close to 500 calorie burn. Double-check your manual to see if you've set up your HRM correctly, including any wetting of the chest strap, and its position. Good luck!0
