Hi everyone!

I have been struggling with weight gain due to PCOS. I tried Metaformin but it gave me awful heartburn. Have you tried any medicines with your PCOS that help with weight loss? I feel like I am working out as hard as I can and my body is not responding. I've been trying to eat as healthy as possible but the results are not showing :(

    How much are you eating?

Time and again I see women with PCOS post that they are eating 1200 calories, exercising like mad, and not losing a thing. In addition to underestimating calories, they are not realizing that the above combo is tanking their NEAT calorie expenditure.

If you fit that description, I suggest reducing your deficit to 1/2-1 pound per week, starting resistance training (has proven benefits for women with PCOS) , and aiming to exercise 5-6 days per week total. Something like a 40 minute walk on a non strength training day is great. No need to go crazy. Then eat your exercise calories if you are using an MFP goal. Evaluate after a month and adjust calories up/down from there.

Yes. And as a woman with PCOS, I've found that only a low carb diet works for me. I get most of my carbs from fruits and vegetables, and I don't eat any bread or white sugar.
