Has anyone been prescribed Qysmia?

I spoke with my doctor today about prescription appetite suppressants today and she allowed me to take Qysmia. Has anyone on MFP taken it? Did you like it or dislike it? The pills are huge! I have a rapid heartbeat so she would only prescribe me Qysmia or a medicine that has to be injected (I forgot the name) but I hate needles.

One of the ingredients in this medication is topamax. I have taken topamax, as a mood stabilizer and never again. There is a reason it is nick named dopamax. I literally forgot words mid sentence. I got in my car the one day and forgot where I was going, forgot I was even driving. After a scary 2 weeks (and yes, even my significant other thought it was scary) I awas quickly taken off the medication. I can't imagine electively taking the medication.
This medication can also cause palpitations and elevated heart rate, so not sure why you would chance it if you already have a rapid heartbeat.1 -
If your doctor prescribed it to okay but as other users mentioned side effects are possible. I'm not on this medicine, so I can't speak of it more than what's been said. Good luck on your weight loss journey.0

I looked at every weight loss prescription and everyone has a side effect of a raise in heart rate along with many other side effects, I was just wondering if anyone had success with it or not. I'm doing the 14 day free trial before my doctor keeps me on it so we can monitor it. This is my 2nd day on it and for it to be a rapid release I've had no palpitations or memory lapses thankfully.1 -
Please do not drive while taking this medication. It took a few days for the side effects to kick in for me. Please do not risk yourself and others by getting behind the wheel of a car.
Medication or not, weight loss still comes down to a calorie deficit.0 -
How much weight are you needing to lose?
What have you tried previously to lose it?0 -
Unfortunately, many of the side effects of medications do not show up right away. Fen/Phen worked awesome for me for weight loss in the 90s, but I gained all the weight back when I stopped taking it when Fenfluramine was withdrawn from the market, and now I have heart issues.0
