I know it's water weight but I usually drink a gallon a day. Yesterday I must of almost had two gallows. Gained close to 12 pounds in water. Calorie wise I only had 2300 which still kept me under my deficit. It's just I'm 9 pounds heavier today. How long does water weight last. I'm debating jumping in a sauna to rid myself of the water lol

I also know it's the sodium we intake. It's just I don't wanna over or under drink and I don't wanna feel disheartened by the scale even though in my mind I know I'm eating right

Water fluctuations happen 24/7, whether it's from drinking more, eating more sodium or carbs, introducing or increasing exercise, or hormonal changes (mostly for women). It should go back down within a couple days.

My sodium is under 2000 mgs a day
I eat 2300 calories a day for my deficit
    I work out 5-7 times a week 2hrs a day

All that stuff is on key. I was just. Concerned with the 9lbs I consumed yesterday.

Yes you're right it weighs 8 pounds. I'm not disheartened, I just don't want to become that way. I just left the gym burned around 900 cal, I spent a little over three hours there today. I do enjoy the gym and feel good eating healthy.it's just water retention is a pain in the butt

Careful not to get in a mindset of working out only to rid yourself of water. Track your weight a couple of times a day consistently for a few weeks to get an accurate idea of just how much your weight fluctuates. You'll be surprised I'm sure. Sounds like you know all of these things, but stay focused on the bigger picture; not how much you with after drinking that much water. By the way, two gallons is quite a bit of water and won't necessarily yield many health benefits by drinking that much. You were DEFINITELY retaining water.

OM this!!!! After a few months of not doing much more than a day or two a week of light treadmill went back to Barbell class with the purpose of getting into lifting weights in my own.
I have been ssssooooooo sore yesterday and today's even worse! I knew I shouldn't have jumped on the scale this morning because I was sure I'd be retaining water (from Barbell and from heat increasing in TX again, and probably hormones)! But I couldn't resist and I weighed myself! +5 POUNDS!!!!! While I've maintained my weight in the last -lazy- months and I've been very proud of myself for that, this morning's number totally depresses me!!!!!!!!
Sigh!!! Now to wait for the flush.....

This sums up how you should look at it. Don't get fixated by the scale. you have to control the scale mentally not let the scale control you. For one reason or another your body told you you needed the water and you drink the water that your body needed. Your water weight is not real weight it's a temporary number.

To put things in perspective I have access to scales where I work. my weight has changed by over 5 pounds during the course of the day depending on what I ate what I drank how I feel and the kind of workout I had the day before.

idk, my outlook about it all changed the day i tried to give blood and after almost an hour they'd only gotten half a bag's worth out of me.

i have never forgotten that lesson in how being ' properly hydrated' actually means something. your blood moves that sluggishly. and it's not like i'd crawled across the gobi desert to the red cross van either. i just went 'pfft, sure' at the hydration question because i'd had my morning shake, and only one coffee, and about two cups of water . . . so so what if i hadn't drunk much since i'd gotten to work?
