Belly fat and breathing problems?

So I'm up about 10 pounds from where I'm comfortable and all 10 pounds are around my middle. I've been having some problems taking a deep breath and I'm wondering if it could have anything with being fatter than usual. Anyone else have this kind of problem? I did see my doctor to rule out things like a lung infection, asthma (which I don't have) and to talk about possible allergies. She said that she thinks I'm fine but we didn't talk about my weight gain. Any feedback is welcome?

Honestly, that's how I feel when anxious. I have asthma too and it's a totally different feeling (though it took me a long time to realise this!), the not able to get a full breath thing is dreadful and it happens when I'm having an anxiety or panic attack. Worth considering if other things have been ruled out medically.1

Makes total sense but I really can't identify any anxiety! My doctor did recommend some breathing methods that could help if it was anxiety. Thanks!0

If you have lost weight, what's left shouldn't be causing any more issues than it would've when you had all the weight. If your doctor isn't worried I would probably go for anxiety as well. It's a nasty thing anxiety - I get all the physical symptoms (shortness of breath, heart palpatations, dizziness, overall feeling of dread) before my brain kicks in and realises i'm just being being anxious. I went through a ton of medical testing with my heart (the palpatations were really bothering me) but in the end everything was fine and it was... anxiety. From that point onwards, I connected the feelings in my body to anxiety and now I can recognise it and stop/reverse the feelings.0

Have you been checked for acid reflux?0

I was just telling my SIL about this. I've lost 19. 5 lbs and it was mostly in my abdominal area. I wasn't able to lay on my back to sleep because I felt breathless. Now, 10 lbs away from my goal, I can sleep on my back with no issue.
Do you have anxiety or acid reflux issues?0 -
Unless you gained those ten pounds near your lungs (you didn't) then ten pounds isn't likely to make a huge difference in your breathing. I find that exercise impacts my breathing far more than a few extra pounds.0
