What type of protein is best for weight loss

    In terms of non whey protein powders I like pumpkinseed protein best because it has almost no flavour so you can put it in smoothies, on steamed veggies, pretty much anything. Pea protein, hemp protein (plain tastes like hemp seed oil so pretty good on veggies) or soy protein are the other main options.

    I use pea protein (I found NatureAde to be the best in terms of having no flavor) and egg white protein.

    "Best" is relative.

    Whey is 'best' for post-workout refueling because it is most quickly absorbed into your body.
    Casseine is 'best' for any other time fueling as it is more slowly absorbed, providing satiety for more hours with each dose.
    Egg is 'best' because nobody is allergic to it and anybody can use it.
    Vegan proteins are 'best' because vegan if that is your preference.

    If you look at it from another angle, price, cheapest is best and that's whey.

    If you prefer best non-supplement protein, that's egg whites. That's 2 quarts of egg whites a day for muscle-builders using progressive resistance lifting.

    Protein powder isn't for weight loss. It's to add more protein (and therefore Calories) to your daily nutrition. If you need/want more protein, and are looking to take a protein powder, then you can check out Labdoor's protein rankings - you can select non-dairy - and figure out what you want based on their recommendations and price. But, I think there's only a few non-dairy. Which sort of begs the question: why non-whey? If because it's dairy (lactose), then the above would work.

    Who told you this? There are A LOT of people allergic to eggs (and egg white in particular) and a lot of people that don't know they are allergic to eggs but actually are (we were there at one time). We couldn't touch them in our house for almost 7yrs. My son was highly allergic to them. Probably should be careful with a blanket statement like that.

    As for whey - I WISH I could have whey protein. But I'm so allergic to whey I can't touch it.
