Hi all, I've been using this app for 3 weeks . I am trying to lose weight had my son sort out all my intakes etc.. And I am on 1200 cals a day but have not seen any weight loss , I am stuck on the same weight , sort of just maintaining it rather than losing.
I do need to lose about 3 plus stones , I Dont do much or any excersise as I have MS and find it hard. Any help will be grateful .thx

How are you measuring your calorie intake?2

Use a food scale, weigh everything, log accurately, be patient.
It will happen but it will take time. Excercise is not needed for weight loss but you do need to be really acurate with counting your calories as you do not have the opportunity to earn any more from excercise.
Hope it happens for you soon, good luck.4 -
I have a weighing digital scale and yes I weigh everything . I must say that I Dont drink much water as I have a bladder problem and my life would just pass in the bathroom so I know I am being silly here but its just to much to having to keep going . I am keeping an eye on the intake of my food that I Dont go over what I should be having . Still no luck .0

Hi Niyra, staying low in calories is a good way to loose weight, but it easily takes your metabolism down. Doing sports is so important to keep it up and make sure its fat you are loosing and not muscle. Exercise makes you burn extra calories as well.
If you already work out, I'd advise you to add another 20 min to your daily exercise, and make sure to be in a 70-80% range of your max heart beat. If possible, try to get your work outs done in the morning. It boosts your metabolism from the very beginning of the day.
Good luck! Looking forward to hear your updates.2 -
Slightly hard for me to do work outs as I can't walk that great .. I have my setting on the app as not active ..I di try a bit but my legs give up on me..I have Multiple Sclorsis (MS) so that bit harder. Anyway I will keep trying and thank you for replying to me.

First, let's not start the bunkum about low calories and metabolism on someone who is trying for 1200 and 3 weeks in.
Secondly, you really should should read a thread before spouting your holier than thou workout sermon. Having MS is not like faking a letter from your mum to get out of gym.
OP - if you are genuinely seeing no movement in another couple of weeks, despite careful measuring and logging (double check you don't have some rogue log entries, some of the stuff in the database that s just wrong), then do two things - see your doctor for a discussion. You shouldn't cut any more if you are genuinely at 1200 already without doing that, and don't panic. It will happen, you just have to find what works for you.
In the mean time if you opened your diary some of the knowledgeable folk on here may be able to spot something to help:

Thank you so much.I think you have understood me. I will make my diary public ,if that shows others ..I am sort of new to this I was doing Slimming World , that did work I have lost 2 stones with that , then just got stuck for a year and felt I was just wasting my money ..Then my younger son got this app and it helped him ,but he goes to the Gym and can do it all, so is my elder son too lol so they say mum come you can do this..I will carry on , I am reading more about the app and feel I may have been putiimg in food from the app using the Homemade heading which I thought was ok for my homemade food. Lol so now I am weighing everthing that goes in the meal..lot of time needed, but it will be worth it x1

I've made my diary public so anyone can see, and maybe able to shed some light to where I could be going wrong. I only recently started to fill the diary in so I Dont think there is much to go by. Thank you all for your support.

I could be wrong here, and if I am I am sorry, but I thought I had seen some research on different dietary needs for individuals with MS. My best recommendation would be to go to your doctor to get a referral to a Registered Dietitian. Could be that because moving is difficulty for you, that you have low muscle mass and thus burn fewer calories at rest. I would also see if there are some seated exercises you could do, when you feel well enough. They would help preserve some of your muscle mass. MS is also an auto immune disorder, which contributes to systemic inflammation, so you could also be dealing with that. There are certain vitamins that can help with inflammation, such as omega 3's, but I'm hesitant to recommend that as I don't know what reacts/well or poorly with MS in general or any medications you might be on. B/c you have a medical condition, certain tests that can give you your actual body mass make up and calorie burn at rest may be beneficial to you (I think bod pod does this but not 100% sure), as you may not conform to the "standard".
I really hope you can figure out a solution soon!1 -

If you do want to do exercise I recommend water aerobics. My mom has something very similar to MS (they thought it WAS MS for years) and she loves water aerobics. Really helps her feel better and keep some strength.
With that said you don't need to do exercise to lose weight. Just work on logging accurately and it'll happen.2 -
Hi all so I haven't lost in like 3 weeks and one of them I gained 1 pound .
I am weighing everything that passes my lips , everyone in the house are getting fedup of me lol.. But still no joy..
I've changed my macros to less carbs and fats and high protein and calories to 1400 but eating about 1200/1300.
Please if any one can guide me I am lost.1 -
I suspect that your loss with be especially non-linear because of low water intake. You will probably weigh in at the same weight for a long time (6 weeks) and then "whoosh". There are lots of threads on whoosh but here's one http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10522791/the-whoosh. So hang in there! Keep up the good work.
I would though, as others suggested, be sure you are working with your doctor and/or a nutritionist who has experience with MS.1 -
