Everytime i go for a run i get this excruciating pain in my teeth to the point i want to pull them out. I grind my teeth at night as well. Could someone tell me what causes this and what can help it?

If my teeth hurt after running I would first think that it was the cold air, and wear a scarf across my face. Secondly I would consider de sensitizing toothpaste. Thirdly I would consider a dental visit. Regarding teeth grinding purchase a guard at the drug store or call your dentist.

I also got that when I started cardio and it felt horrible. Running sucked and this just made it worse. So kept running and either got over it or it went away because I do not notice it anymore.

I get this in winter. It can persist for quite some time after I've been out for a walk. I think it's just the cold air, as my teeth have always been sensitive to the cold. I don't know if it's placebo or what, but I find brushing them can take the pain away.

Took me ages to make the connection with the cold, as it doesn't always come on right away, either.

I used to have jaw pain. My dentist noticed grind marks on my teeth and fitted me with a guard that I wear at night. They charged me $40 for this. You can probably also buy a non-custom one at a pharmacy.

I wear a scarf and hat when exercising outdoors in the winter.

Please see a dentist for the pain you're experiencing.

You need to see a dentist for the nighttime grinding. Dealing with daytime grinding can be a question of awareness, so start paying more attention to your jaw and teeth during the day, and particularly when you run.

Are you clinching your jaw when you run?

I'd agree on seeing a dentist.

I also agree with seeing a dentist or orthodontist. While it could be teeth grinding at night, it could also be cavities, sensitive teeth, etc.

Until then, perhaps try an OTC mouth guard? I personally hated my otc mouth guard, the one my dental office gave me was much nicer (thinner and more comfortable). Ever since I've started wearing mine at night, my jaw and tooth pain has disappeared.
