OK. So I had an incredible workout tonight. I ran 4 miles non-stop then did my ab work. I was feeling proud and tired. THEN.....
I made the mistake of looking in the mirror while I was stretching out afterwards. All I could see was how fat I am. (I don't normally have body image issues. As a matter of fact, I was the opposite of anorexic. I would see myself as thinner than I was & that's part of how I gained weight.) Just about every part of my body disgusted me; my hips, arms, thighs.
Anyway, after seeing myself in the mirror, I felt deflated. I know part of looking so bad was that I was sweating and my clothes were all sticking to me. It kinda made me feel like all the hard work I've been doing is for nothing.
Anyone else ever have one of these days?

I have felt that way before, but you are doing something great for your body, keep going at it!! Don't lose hope!!0

Many times...Everything is process.
I have lost (and found) 30 lbs at least 3 times. The "trick" is to keep going. Rome wasn't built in a day, and neither will you.
I try to "feed my machine" and "work my machine" (trust me I am not some crazy lady...just trying to stay motivated)
try something on that was tight before an realize that you are making improvements.

I've had those days before, in fact I'm having one of those weeks now :-) I think as you start seriously getting in shape, starting to lose, and working out, we become much more acutely aware of how we look and feel, and see all of those flaws we were able to block out before. It's important to keep focusing on the victories (non-scale victories), and on the end goal - you're on the right track, and both the scale and the mirror will reflect that eventually.0

Make sure you aren't subconsciously sabotaging yourself. If you see the reflection of your physical image and think to yourself "I don't look like I want to look yet but I am doing what I need to do to get there and this reflection is just a work in progress" that's healthy for your self image. On the other hand, if you think something like "I just had a really good workout and look at my reflection. No matter what I do I look like the image I see in front of me" I think that's creating a huge obstacle to achieving change. The way you see yourself in your mind's eye is the way you will become, so be very sure your conscious thoughts about yourself are what you really want to happen...0

i've DEFINITELY done that before!!!! it's definitely not cool, nor is it fair!! especially after all that hard work!! if it happens again, tell yourself that all the exercise you're doing at that moment hasn't caught up with your body yet, but it would catch up shortly! do anything to slap the bad thoughts out of your head immediately and refocus your attention to something more positive0

Thanks for the support. I'm feeling a little better this morning. I'll just try to stay away from full length mirrors today!0
