You can't pick where fat comes off.

Just keep losing (and it should be at a moderate pace). But it would also if you are eating adequate protein and doing some resistance training in order to sustain you muscle mass. When you sustain your muscle, you will be more lean.

Yup I've heard you need to just lose weight and it will eventually come off in the belly area. It might take some time. I'm in the same boat

When you say you have a bad back and you can't do sit ups, crunches, etc, is that under doctor's orders? Because I have bad arthritis in my back. Two years ago I would have said I had a "bad" back. My doctor told me to strengthen my core and it has made all the difference in the world. My back pain has gone away completely and I no longer consider myself as having a "bad" back.

I didn't do crunches or sit ups and I'm not allowed anything high impact either (severe arthritis in my hip). I worked on the basic lifts - bench press, squats, dead lifts. But I suggest starting out very slowly and with very light weights and working your way up. But only if the doctor approves.

Not only has this strengthened my core but it has helped with my posture and it has tightened the belly.

In my experience you can work out all you want. i love working core. I joke that I have an 8 pack under my winter tummy! It is really about diet. Cutting down even more. This is always the last to come off for me and it only happens when I cut way down on carbs and calories, eat clean foods, and higher proteins, as well as longer workout sessions like zone 2 exercise for longer periods or something im going to try is hiit burn or for us older gals we may remember it as interval training.

Unfortunately, there is no magic trick to spot reducing belly fat. These areas of the body are referred to as stubborn fat because they are the last places that come off in a deficit. We can't determine where we will store fat or loose it, this is largely the result of genetics. Some people store it on their buttocks, hips, arms, etc.

I know it sucks, but you must loose fat from all areas of the body before it can reach the stubborn areas. Although fasting and HIIT cardio are thought to have beneficial effects by increasing blood flow to beta receptors, areas in your body that receive less blood flow, this is largely speculation, and the only thing you really need to be concerned about is staying in a deficit for long enough. It's not sexy, but it's the truth

That's rite, your back needs supporting muscles, back bones need to have something to set on. And this is only strong muscles of the back, sides and stomach. If you ask therapist of best thing for your back, he will suggest u get on the floor on your belly, rise your arms above your head, legs rise 3-5 inch above floor and hold it for 30-60 sec. Start slowly and listen to your body. There are thousand of back exercises. Check with your health provider or can go on utube and veiw them under "back rehub". Back pain is very curable, just takes some time and effort. Good luck

Some moves to do are Wall sits, bird dog, knee to chest lying down, pelvic tilts and bridges, aerobic exercises- walking, biking, swimming, avoid twisting moves. Even Pilates is beneficial for back problems! There could be imbalances or something simple as improving posture. Using free weights can help with fat loss adding muscle burns more calories and fat plus you get full range of motion with free weights and great for building bone strength. Make sure you're getting more calories when active. You may have a slower metabolism I like adding super b complexes it's a natural way of getting the boost and it has great benefits! Calcium, vitamin d, and glucosamine are all great to have for joint health and may help decrease back discomfort. But if you have any conditions talk to your dr before adding supplements. Hope this helps!!

Couple points. Lot of the other posters made good comments. Here's my experience I'm a 56 year old male double hip replacement I have an arthritic knee that needs to be replaced I have an arthritic shoulder that needs to be replaced and I also have a cronic bad back.

My personal experience has been as the weight comes off you'll have less pain in your back and other joints if you have issues. To give you a perspective of what the weight loss has done for me I'm a big fan of Tony Horton 2 years ago when I started P90X he has a jumping routine called plyometrics. One of those moves is a spin jump. I couldn't even do it no physical or psychological way I could handle doing it then.
Last week I did a full 360 spin in mid-air. Don't underestimate what you're capable of it may take time and you'll be surprised at what you can do. Just work within your limitations

My other suggestion to you is before you do anything go see an orthopedic or back specialist will be able to analyze you and at least you know where you stand
